How do the mud terrains wear on ctd's. I only seen them on trail rigs and jeeps. Thinking of getting these 35's : #ad

on these: 17x8's #ad
It should look good on a black truck w/DARK windows. If anyone is running tires on wheels similar to these I'd like to see some pics.

Thanks.

I have always like Mud Terrains, but they will wear pretty quick. This is made worse on a street rig by a narrow wheel. You have to deflate the tire slightly to get the right contact patch and this results in built heat.

If I was looking for tires/ wheels, which I may yet do, I would go to the 18x9 size and look at the Toyo MT 'E' rated tires. Most of the 18" sizes have a btter bacakspacing arrangement then the 17"ers out there. And the ability to run higher pressure s and not wear the centers will help you put more miles on the rubber.

Now all this is great for the street. Off road, I want a narrower wheel for rim protection. But everything is a tradeoff. As I run my rig 95% on pavement, I start there. I just need the MT for those times I have to put the boat in on a sand covered ramp or a gravel "unimproved" ramp. Sometimes a winch is handy too. :-laf

Granted that my truck hadn't had front suspesnion problems, I feel completely safe in saying that my 35X12. 5R16. 5 on 10" rims would have lasted 45k-50k. I expect 40K out of these and a little more before I need replacments. I've had some serious

-misalignment caused- wear issues. . No fault of the tires.

I also read numerous reports that the tires were good for 50k if properly maintained.

They will me my next tire also I believe.

Just changed the ones on my dually at 76,000 miles! I rotated them and they did really well. I only got 50,000 out of the sets on my 93 3/4 ton. Same size 255/85-16

I have 255-85-16 on my Ford diesel. If the front-end would stay aligned, all 4 would've probably gone close to 60k+ miles. :D

I got a hard 31k miles out of my first set. They have good on-road manners and are very predictable. I would not reallly consider them good for frequent use in heavy mud; but for a daily driver weekend trail rig they are not that bad a tire.
