Just bought some new BFG AT at sears 265 75 "E" tires. Last couple of days I found the truck to be a bit squirrly so I checked the tire pressures. I found them to be at 50 in front and 80 in the rear. After i read some other posts i changed them to 60 front and 50 in the rear. I drive alot empty. Much better now!

Tire pressure

Watching your treadwear will tell you where to be. I run mine @65# all around unless loaded or a long trip. All 4 wear even across the tread. Thats the important part with the cost of these tires - making sure they wear flat across the tread. Under or over and they wear out twice as fast.

Are these your first 10-plies?? As noted above I'd drop the rears down especially since your running light/solo. I learned as you have that 10-plies @80 psi empty will ride (and hop) like golf balls!!!

100k? from each? How many miles do you have on that monster?

I have 170k and have been through 1 set of Michelins, 1 set of BFG TaKo 265's and just finished off my second set of BFG 285's. My front end doesn't stay together long enough to get a decent life out of tires. Crap Maine roads. If I rotate, I just kill all four tires evenly. You have to have a pretty fat checking account to keep tires rolling straight on a Ram. So, not happy.

To save money (so I thought) I did spend a year with a cheap set of Cooper Discovery tires. Yup, they lived through four seasons... Summer to summer. That's it. Didn't save money there!

I have about 335,000 miles and it runs great! I do a lot of freeway driving but yes 100k no problem with BFG'S or Michelins. The pre late 01's front end parts seem to last longer. I still have all original tie rod ends but at 300k I replaced ball joints, front u joints ( drive shaft u joints are original ) wheel hub assemblies front axle seals, changed the gears to 3. 73 from 3. 55 big improvement in towing. The rear axle pinion broke off a tooth so it was a no brainer to change gears. All parts are factory original brands I purchased from Rock Auto. Randys Ring and Pinion did the gears.
