anyone else notice it looks like there is no block heater plugged in to the heater element?

yep. Definitely not mine. I have no idea what to even say. The truck is a beautiful 2006 truck with just 28,000 miles on the odometer. The turbo is blown and pushing oil, 5 cylinders are scuffed bad, two pistons got hot(one is apparent :D) and the list goes on.

The truck came to me after the owner found m name on the net. He is somewhat local and was contacting me about buying a new turbo. As we talked on the phone he told me that he thought he had lost a cylinder on the motor and the conversation progressed till he asked me to take a look at it.

Well, when I popped the hood and took the oil cap off with it running it became very obvious he had issues. Piiissssshhhhhtttt, sounded like a soda bottle under pressure when I took the cap off. :( I told him he had issues and we held out hopes that it would be just a blown head gasket. Obviously he will not be a happy camper when I contact him today with the news.

what power adders did he have? to cause that kind of carnage?

Robert

p. s. i know where you can get a block from ;)

 Well, whats the word on this rig? How bombed was this thing? It must be modded out to not go to the ******* for warranty? Keep us posted. Thanks

I talked to Lloyd alittle today and he said it had a BDDL,TST, MP8 stack but didnt say if it was a stock turbo. He's workin on his bro-inlaws truck im sure he will fill us in on the rest when he gets a chance!

Man id hate to be on the bad end of that phone call! :( :--)

I would hope he had gauges or the TST with gauges to monitor things, but maybe not! I know im nervous about puttin my PMCR R49AP on and i have gauges and the digital ones on the tst, whitch Lloyd and i are gonna try to get them in tomarrow(gauges that is) not sure if i sould put the tst on yet or not! Only 9k on the ticker.

Hope mine doesn't ever look like that. I bet though, if we all pulled our heads more, we would find surprises we didn't want to see.

I'm scared to pull mine...

I pulled mine last weekend and was RELEIVED!!! everything is A-OK in the cylinders.

It comes down to using your head and being responsible with your bombs. I am sure that we all get a bit carried away but sustained temps will cause HUGE problems. We don't know the whole story behind this case so all we can do is guess what the owner did or did not do.

Ok, the owner came down this evening and looked over the damage. Apparently he said the issue began about a month ago while he was towing his cattle trailer across the state and hasn't driven the truck much since

The thermocouple was mounted directly in the path of the cylinder that burned up and he says the exhaust temps climbed to around 1550 degrees and he turned the water injection on to cool it down. After the water came on temps dropped to around 1300 degrees, but shortly afterward the truck started to run rough and smoke excessively. At that point in the game he had stock injectors and the BD Super B turbo on the truck.

When he got it home he sent the injectors out to be checked thinking that maybe one of them was going south. He got the new injectors in and noticed the rough idle was still there and that the truck was burning oil. He then checked the turbo and found that it was blowing oil into the innercooler.

So, he only had the stock charger on the truck long enough to get it to my place. That explains some of the things that I found on the truck. We will be yanking the engine the first of the week and we will go from there as to whether or not he will be going with a shortblock or rebuilding the existing one.
