Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) No gears, transmission problem

2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Another Wiring Question

Just wondering if adding after market injectors and/or fueling boxes do damage, shorten life, stress the VP44?

I believe the concensus is that pump wire boxes, since they push the VP-44 beyond its factory-programmed limits, will tax the VP-44. Mild fueling boxes that don't tap the pump wire as well as injectors shouldn't be harmful to a healthy VP-44.

JM2CW  YMMV

ps. how did the bilstiens make your ride?

I just put a set of the Bilstein 5100's on my truck. They replaced my Rancho RS9000's. The truck has a firm solid ride to it. Cetainly not plush. Handles much better in my opinion. So far so good.

Injectors have no effect, good or bad, on the injection pump.

A mild box stays within stock parameters, so I'd say that it also has no effect on the pump.

A fueling box that connects to the VP will tax the pump, but it depends on how aggressively the box is set up. The VP44 is used in many other applications besides the CTD, and the duty cycle in some applications exceeds what the CTD is.

So there's a little headroom, but the VP does have its limits, and most fueling boxes are pushing them.

Thanks for all the info. My Bilsteins made it ride pretty much like stock. Still bounces on the rear pretty good over the washboard highway.

I have heard that a higher flow injector eases the “strain” on the VP44 due to less resistance to each injection event. Lower pop off pressure, how Measurable??? I don't know… it just makes sense to me.
