VW gets 235mpg. Really!

a lot of you have experimented with injectors, plus there are the typical 370's, 215's, DD. . 's, etc. that are sold. ok, to get more flow (power) through the injectors "some are honed, censored, hybrid", etc.

how do these process work? is it a simple matter or machining/drilling or is it more complex? (any pictures?). what are the the benefits to the process-or reasons of why to do honing over censoring?

i've just always wondered what's involved and how to do it...

Tom... the other part polish guy.

Edit: oh yeah. what about the duramaxes and powerstrokes. i've never heard of bigger injectors for the duramax (ats?), but the powerstrokes are so expensive. since the injectors are very different, what would you use to get more flow? could the stock ones be drilled/machined/etc or are the very expensive replacements necessary?

Tom. . no flame intended.....

by your post count you have been here a while... . there are hundreds of replies on this topic . . suggest you use the search option on this topic. .

i've been reading the forums for around 4 1/2 years ( i think-my brain is shot), but i don't remember one like this. i've done some searching and haven't found much. what i'm looking for is the process of building bigger injectors. i know the power levels and the such of them, but i don't know how they're designed. i see the pictures of the flow (bench) testing and stuff. some talk about extrude honing, but how do you extrude hone? like the honing of the cylinder walls or is it completely different?

look for the threads that Nowel and Scotty Joe D. and Janetty [and a bunch of lookie loo's / old and early CTD HP junkie types] were involved with... as to extrude hone . . it's a process where a material is forced thru the openings and "cuts" away material in the process.

another place to get in a good long conversation is with Joe D. himself. . he works with DD a bunch in R & D work
