I have finally found a place to buy a set of Ranchos for the front of my 2wd 2500. But, I was reading my latest TDR and I think I remember reading that Bilsteins may be a better choice for my front since I do not do any heavy pulling. Anybody have any reasons why one is better than the other? Also, where can I get them from the net at a discount?

Thanks in advance.

Do not only do the front shocks. Your ride will get no better, in my case it was WORSE! The key to the better ride is to soften the rear suspension so that it is closer to the way the front reacts to the road. Do all four and use Rancho 9000's is JMHO.

The dreaded Bilstien VS Rancho debate!!!!

Hands down... . Bilstiens.....

Then again. . what is it they say about opinions?????

Honestly, I wend the Bilstien way and am impressed.

I like how their shocks are DESIGNED and SET for a particular GVWR.

They don't make them for many applications. The 8800 LB GVWR Ram 3500 and 2500 are ones that they do cover.

P. S. do all 4 or you won't be happy with the result!!!!

2wd & 4 wd are completely different animals when it comes to shocks.

I have a 97 CC 2wd and run KYBs. It rides better loaded than empty.

One buddy has a 95 SC 4WD with KYBs. His ride is very good empty, but without the airbags wouldn't be good loaded.

Another buddy has RS900's on his 98 QC 4wd and loves them. He softened the numbers way down for the freeway work and loves the adjustments for offroad work.

Another buddy with a 92 Ford diesel put on KYBs. With that Twin I-beam tire eater system it wasn't enough. He was thinking on adding airbags, too.

Evan Beck was going through this same debate last year with his 2wd. I don't remember what he picked.

I love the Bilsteins in my Tahoe, great ride. Have'nt tried 'em in my truck yet, only 27K "easy" miles. Probably soon though #ad

The price of the two is within a couple of bucks, so no real difference there. Put the Rancho's on and if you don't like the ride you get out and turn the knob. Put the Bilsteins on and if you don't like the ride you... ..... sell them? I have the Rancho's and love them. I would pay $100 a shock now that I have them. The adjustabilty sold me.
