Trucking Company gone BAD???

Ive been trying to make our lawn the best around (It is because its the only one for a long way) the lawn equipment dealer in town let me watch & ask questions of the Zero Turn Mechanic as he adjusted a Husqvarna mower like ours to make cuts better, cleaner & more level & the yearly maintenance that I'm taking over. This was the tool that they used to balance & true blades. Have another tool coming for measuring deck hight & blade level. I used the little aluminum cone before and thought that was good! WAS I EVER SURPRISED HOW WRONG I WAS

BIG,

Before clutch days I spent 3 yrs as mechanic at a public golf course. Cleanly cut green grass was the way to the bank for them.

Yes, that spinning magnetic balancer was on the shop storage rack with the runout tip as you pictured.

But one of the big rotary mower setups was making the deck slightly higher at the rear than the front is. To visualize effect put a blade on the floor in line with direction of travel and flat. Now raise the back end of the blade by 1/4" or so. As the mower is going forward the grass is only getting cut by the front of the blade and not twice. That was SOP for rotary mowers and those were almost only used off of the primary playing surfaces. they use reels for the fancy stuff and those cut like scissors.

Interesting how an ad for a cone balancer showed up in my ad feeds on TDR.

Gary is right on the money. That's how Deere had us set up the decks, and we used a tool like you have in the video.

Learned a lot from the mower mechanic about adjustments to the Zero turn. I usually don't get to use it, the yard close to the house is Penny's area. I get the back 40 as we call it (actually only 7 acres to cut) was wondering if the same deck level applies to my Beast of Burden?

BIG,

Cut grass blade once or drag mower blade across grass blades all around mower blades rotation? Quiz to follow.

It's a bit like clearance on the back edge of a drill bit, cut with leading edge don't rub with back edge.

You set up that MF mower correctly you'll get improved fuel mileage, loose weight, increase stamina, reverse aging and not get speeding tickets.

Hi Penny

Gary

The tractor finish mower is (I'm assuming) a 1971 year as is the tractor & brush hog also pictured. Penny & her Father bought them as a set from a guy at a tractor show because I thought it was a nice, excellent running utility tractor. The mower is a side discharge, so I think moving cut field grass 72" across the deck isn't the most optimal for a clean cut look. I only mow the back 40 every other week as I have other things to tend to especially this year with our alfalfa growing endeavor. In the picture it does a pretty good job for what it is & how fast grass grows here.
