Oil line and loss of pressure???

If the turbo blows, can the oil line feeding the turbo be compromised and letting the oil pressure go to near zero? Just a thought.

As of now, the transmission and TC are toast. The transmission pump went, mechanic said it is a real mess, whole thing grenaded. They are going to check the motor this am.

sounds more and more like input shaft. oil pressure thing has me, as some might say, cornfused!

Input and output shafts were fine, rest of transmission toast.

It sounds like it is just the transmission. Maybe I was a bit "cornfused" on the pressure gauge. They have the transmission out, and are going to start the motor this afternoon. The oil was drained, and looks fine. No metal or fuel, oil level was fine. Might have just been my nerves causing me to see things. But, I will know for sure by tomorrow.

But, I do know it is getting a new "built" BD Power transmission, TC and VB w warranty. I am passing on the billet shaft for now, as I am seriously considering selling the truck once the transmission is completed. I am about wore out on this rig, and my wife is ready to KILL ME! I am looking at either a Dodge RT (Hemi) wagon, or the Dodge 1500 Rumble Bee 4x4.

As far as the truck, this transmission ordeal is the only problem I have had with it. Why do I want to sell her? I am just ready for a change, something a bit smaller. I really like the idea of going back to a car, now that rear wheel drive is back in something other then a Crown Vic.

Anyone interested in my Red BEAST, PM me and make an offer, serious buyers only. I have to many parts to list, more then what my sig says, they would not all fit, well over $15 grand. All that I can say, is that it is one Very Fast truck. And will be in tip top shape after the transmission install. And nothing has been mickey moused, install wise, on ANY of the go fast components. Oh, it has roughly 26,000 miles on her, was bought new by me, and has a clear title. And I have all of the original parts. Gets 16 mpg.

Mike

glad to see it wasn't the motor. I know when I'm ideling and when I'm driving the oil pressure says 2 different things. Maybe since you weren't moving, there was really no load on the motor there for no oil pressure. My . 02

Also, if you do plan on keeping it or if someone here buys it. Do the input shaft.

I would like to do the input shaft, but the extra grand will break my bank. My house has me about tapped out. I had a major repair on my semi a couple of weeks ago, and now this. When it rains it pours.

michael,

ATS would not warranty the transmission? let us know what blew internally.

Wondering the same thing. If the pump in their valve body went and took out the rest of the transmission, seems they would have a bill to pay. 3 year warranty.

Sure wish for Michaels sake someone from ATS would see this thread, and give some idea of what could have happend!! Don't know anyone from ATS or id give them wind of this thread.

Truck is FIXED!!!

Well, the saga is about over. The truck has a brand new BD Power transmission, TC and valve body. Motor is fine! It is still at the shop, and I guess there are a few guys offering some good coin for it. I wish it was a bit cleaner on the inside, as it looks like a pig pen right now. I won't be able to get the truck till next weekend, long story, been a very bad week with weather and other things out of my control. Man I have a headache, and am ready for a good stiff drink!

As far as the transmission, the problem was undiagnosable. Everything cut loose internally. Thank God the transmission corp was salvagable, it was close. They thought maybe it was related to the ATS stuff, shift points/hard shifts, of the Commander were the likely cause, but not provable. So, we cannot point a finger at the "exact" cause. So no real recourse against any one manufacturer. I'll just lick my wounds on this one, as I really am not up to a fight right now, as there is no real proof of what happened internally. It would wind up being a finger pointing match at this point. The shop said they had suspicions, but really could not prove that any one thing was the exact cause with all of the HP/torque I was pushing through the transmission. If your gonna PLAY, you gotta PAY!

So, my advice. If you have an auto transmission, and plan on some serious hp, go the whole route. Get the transmission, tc, input shaft, vb, the whole nine yards, and get a warranty in writting. BD Power will warranty nationwide for 1 year at no cost, or a 3 year for extended warranty for $650. Trust me on this, I will have close to 9 grand in this truck in transmissions alone. Save your pennies and do it right the first time. Or, just get a manual shift, cheaper in the long run.

Maybe I will get a chance to drive the beast again, but from the sounds of things, it may be already sold. I am thinking of getting a mini van, a Chrysler Town & Counry Touring, with the Celine Dion interior. Some bling bling wheels and tires...

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!

After final inspection of the transmission, it looks like it was either a pump failure or input shaft failure, both were toast. Which led to the destruction of the ATS TC. I really did not feel that I had much af a leg to stand on with anyone as far as blame. If there was some way to actually say it was an ATS problem, I would have already made the call. I was going to upgrade my transmission anyways, I just did not want to do it now. I knew I was pushing to much torque through the previous set up and had my concerns that something like this would happen. It did, and I am paying.

I wish I had a better answer, but you play, you pay.

Mike

Yep, its true! I just went down and test drove the Dodge version, Caravan STX. Darn nice. I am going to try out a Town & Country in a few days to compare. I have one on hold, Town & Country, getting $8000. 00 off of sticker on a 2 year prepayed lease. I think he said $5500 out the door, paid in full for 2 years. I'll stick the remaining money from the sale of the truck in the bank and pay off a few CC's.

I am wore out on this truck, $10,000 in transmissions is enough for me, I'll let someone else worry about it. The wife asked me how much for this "transmission" of mine. I told her, and had to "loose" my cell phone signal due to her reply, if you know what I mean.

Yep, soccer mom world for me. I still can't get over those remote control doors and rear hatch. They open and close with the touch of a button, amazing!

Besides, the price of fuel is starting to cut into my trucking profits. I need to cut expenses and sock away some coin, just in case. It gets worriesome working for GM right now. They are really starting to cut back on production right now. And the supplier I pick up at is up for sale, as they are primarily a GM shop. Their business has been down by roughly 50% this year, not looking good. Everyone I work with there is out looking for new jobs, I might be too. And at the rate that GM is putting out their butt ugly vehicles, it might be sooner then later. I hope I am wrong, and GM finds a better design team, or at least cuts back on the prozac they must feed them.

Mike

Well, I picked up the truck, and am now $5172. 88 lighter in the wallet. I cannot believe the difference this BD Power Transmission and TC make. I wish I would have went this route the first time. I must admit, after having owned the ATS Stage III, the BD Power has it beat hands down!

The BD Power transmission works on the same principles as DTT, so I was told. So far, this transmission is the BOMB! It transfers much more power to the rear wheels then the ATS, you can really feel the difference. The shifting is much smoother, almost fluid in feel, compared to the ATS. I give this transmission a 5 star rating, for whatever it is worth.

Mike

Spend the money on the input shaft, trust me.
