Good deal! We insist on hearing how this goes for you! ;)
I hope the turbo whistles real nice! = Does somthun to a man, you know :)

I just had my 48RE rebuild with a HD master kit and a Goerend 900/400 TC and flex plate.
I really like the TC, Drives stronger then stock. I hope to tow soon and feel how diff it is.

Promiseland- I gave Andy at Tarter Turbo's two calls today, unfortunately for him his mail box was full and you could not leave a message! Yea, my trans. work should be done by next Tuesday. My left knee has been getting a heck of a work out!!! Been using my 06' w/ six speed manual ever since my automatic went down during the blizzard! Can't wait to get her back!!!!

If I was plowing on a regular basis its the 62/65/12 phatshaft I had that huffer on all my 3gens, sold many not 1 compliant, merry it to a tight converter and your snow plowing will be big time improved.

Well got the truck back from Level 10 Transmissions last night. Total rebuild, nothing worth keeping!!!! Pump stopped working and fried everything in the transmission! The only thing original is the trans. case and Mag tech oil pan! Total cost for the rebuild including two hour tow.... $6,417.23!!!!!! Pat the owner believes that the trans. shop that had serviced my transmission this past summer had installed the wrong plate that the TV cable attaches to!!! The plate was for a 47RE not a 48RE. By having that installed I was never getting the proper pressure in the valve body. The only reason I went so long (27 hours) of plowing 24"+ inches of snow before the trans. finally went is that he builds 120 pounds of pressure into his valve bodies (the transmission he built for me back in 07'). This transmission has more things in it that I will ever need!Custom built valve body, triple disc billet torque converter (that he builds),custom sump, stature and turbine.Anti ballon ring, and new cooler lines, minus the check ball. I do have the plate where the TV cable attaches to, just cooling down before I go down to my local transmission shop and tell him where he can place it!

Frank1, I don't see why anyone would mess with the mechanism when servicing the trans, the cable does have an adjustment. generally the 48RE arm won't fit the 47RE shaft, that why you must drop the VB when changing VB form 47RE to 48RE. can you post a picture of the plate.

Todd, this truck (thrid in my sig.) has had a history of the TV cable coming off the socket. The first time it was repaired was back in November of 2014. The next time I brougt it back to the local transmission shop for not properly shifting was in July of 2015. The shop at that time said that they either forgot to put the plate w/ socket back on (back in November) or it fell off? He told me at the time he had an 47RE plate and socket which is the same as an 48RE and installed it. According to Level 10 transmissions, the two are different in lengths and cut at a slightly different angles, allowing for different pressures to be applied to the valve body.I will try to post pictures of the plate w/ socket.

Yep.. You have a good reason to be PO....If you look closely the rod and angles are completely different, its been slipping form that day forward at high load demand the transmission was causing internal wear do to the lack of line pressure.

Thanks Frank! What a lineup! I think that's TDR cover material! Now I can wave if I see you out n about. Some people question what TV and the linkage is and does. This is a good lesson.

TCDiesel- That's how Pat the owner at Level 10 explained to me what had happen. Thanks for your reply. I owe the shop that had installed the wrong linkage $100.00 for towing the truck from my house to his shop.... let's see what happens when I go see him Monday morning and throw the linkage on his counter and tell him that this thing nearly cost me $6,500.00 !!!!

Thanks Wayne! As you can see, I depend on these trucks on making a living. So far they helped w/ putting three kids through college and the fourth one in her second year! Ya, it sure is a good lesson on understanding how things work. I only wish it could have been someone else's lesson!!! I try to do most the maintenance and small repairs on my equipment, but unforttunatly I have to relay on outside help. Looks like it's time to look for another "competent mechanic", which are real hard to come by these days!!!

I'm sure your not going to get reimbursed for it, but I would tell the mech he can forget his $100.00, and if he sues for it, well that will be a big mistake. If I ever need snow plowing here in SoCal, :-laf:-laf:-laf, I'll give you a call. That is a nice fleet you have there and the green seems to work with your Logo. Can you post a picture of your Logo with the green in the back ground. Normally I don't like green as a color, but it sure seems to look good on your trucks.

TV ,throttle valve, it controls the line pressures at/under load conditions. it will destroy a transmission in short order, the 2005+ 48re has a TV motor and the motor would fail and the trans was done.

68rfe is electronic controlled. NO motor, NO cable.

Thanks TCDiesel, thats good to know I don't have to worry about it. Wouldn't it have been better if they just left the TV as linkage rather than a motor control? A good maintenance routine would prevent future failures, while the motorized version wouldnt be known until it was too late.
