Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) block heaters

i pluged in block heater today 1 st time with 97 5. 9

it made some noise hissing sound is that normal



is there a way to test





where is the block heater location

You can hear the block heater "firing up", so to speak. It's just letting you know it's doing its job.

Yap thats normal It's located on the passengers side below the exhaust manifold, the easy way to find it is to trace the power cord.

Yep they gurgle and hisss a bit,, local on pass side ,, fallow the cord. .

I had to add oil pan "pad heaters too"" on engine and trans. . helps with the temps around here...

Is that what that cannister is ? the block heater ? has hoses coming out of it ?
