ok many of you read my post about the oil blowing out of my dipstick tube well after a lot of playing around I think it is the blow by tube now how do you clean it I have taken the oil fill lid off and blowen compressed air up it and it helped a little bit but I think I need to find out how to clean it out.

so how do you clean out the blowby tube???

or how is the best way to clean out the tube.

What's in it that you're trying to clean out?

It should be a fairly large clear (probably yellow by now) plastic tube about 3/4 - 1 inch in diameter.

It see oil vapor from the crankcase. It will get oily and water condenses with the oil to make a mess. Take some carb cleaner or brake cleaner to clean it out.

If this is plugged, that would explain the oil blowing out of the dipstick!

I don't think I'd want to go blowing air up it if it's clogged, the crud will go right into your engine. Most likely you have some sort of insect nest in there. I've never checked out the top end of the tube, isn't it just connected with a hose clamp? Maybe remove it and push a rod though it. Also check out the elbow at the top for a restriction.

well

well I know on the old gassers they would build carbon deposits and clog it up. but i'm not sure about these I don't know if there are filters of what. well I ran a pice of bailing wire up it and didn't really feel anything.

I think/hope it cloged that is why I'm tring to clean it out. I really don't knwo what could have gotten in there but I wish I could get it out I really don't thinkit is a insect because it has be getting worse over time and me blowign the compressed air back up it seemed to help out some (granted I know it was not the best thing to do but it got it to where it wasn't blowing oil down the side of my truck)

This is the first time I've heard of anything like this. There are no filters or carbon (I hope) to clog it up. Have you tried putting your thumb over it while the engine's running to see if there is pressure? You should be able to hold your thumb over it without blowing the dipstick out. If you can't hold your thumb over it or the dipstick blows out you have a valve or ring problem and quite possibly there is more to vent than the blowby can handle so it comes out the dipstick. If there is no pressure just take the whole thing off, it's not hard, and check for clogs.

well I can hold my hand over it and start to feel pressure anout 1500 but barley I would think there needs to be more blowby after I blew up the hose there seems to be less oil out the dipstick tube and on the side of my truck. so I guess I will rip off the hose this weekend and try to see if its cloged

I will report back asap

thanks everyone for all the help
