Crazy, I can't believe it went for $22k, that truck new could be bought for about $30K as it is a ST with stick. How could it be worth fixing it if it threw a rod and part of the trans was destoyed as well.

I think that there is alot more details that we dont know about. And like whats said It has 3 miles according to the paperwork but I dont know for sure because the batteries were dead? HUMMMM. Also the Rod went through the firewall? It looks to me like part of the pressure plate and or clutch went through the floorboard, Pistons and rods go up and down not neccesarilly front to back (because of the sheer mass and velocity of a runnawy rod from that motor there wouldnt be a whole lot being that close to slow it down and it would go where it wanted to go. )

BTW bertram, I used to work around some HUGE insurance auto auctions and you could take a truck that runs and drives (just wrecked on the outside) and it would get more in the drivethrough auction with a salvage title then you could buy the same type of rig perfectly straight form a private seller. But that same truck in the regular auctions (show only no runners or drivers) and it would still bring the same amount of money!

Blown motor=BS , looks like to me, someone went to a truck pull or tried to pull start a tractor trailer , because the input shaft is gone, grenaded, and took out the clutch and bellhousing.

Usually when one of my motors throws a rod, it leaves a nasty oily mess and usually a whole or a couple in the block and oil pan where it decided to exit!!! Maybe all this truck needs is a new bell housing , clutch and trans , if that !!

And the way the seller talked about the truck, he was either intentionally trying to be misleading, or else he really didn't know crap about trucks. "I had a guy look at it... " "I am selling it with the understanding that both engine and trans are blown". There was too much about that truck that was unknown for me to risk more than about $10,000! Still, someone might have gotten a bargain. It would be nice to know what the real story is.

from what i read there and saw in the pictures, to me it seems like the trans will need a rebuild [or new with new bellhousing], new clutch, and maybe a new head. paint fumes and other chemicals [varsol, thinners, etc... ] must have been present where the truck was started and she ran away and the driver panic'd.

How can you have a truck that is a 2003 with only 3 miles on it? built in 3-03, what it didn't sell cause there was no demand for it? Bull, I smell a rotten fish here!

I thought that the 600 motor was only available starting in 04. There is also in incredible amount of rust underneath this new truck. Me thinks there is something rotten in Mexico.

The 600 motor was only available in early 04, This is the 305HP 555TQ motor for the normal 45 states. GFritsch, thats one of the lovely things about California and its emmisions standards.

 hmmm that is a strange one there, never saw a truck of any kind that possibly threw a rod(especially a cummins size) that didn't leave some tell tell sign of oil or a huge hole in the engine. .

What is this engine option price, I sure hope thats a  misprint $600. 00, i could have sworn mine says $4,625. 00 for the Cummins diesel option and mine is a 2000 24Valve, if not were getting screwed big  time here in the states getting a diesel engine option.

The guy is saying 3 miles but also that the batteries are dead so he can't verify it. That's a load of carp, if your askin' someone to spend thousands of dollars on a truck and your guessing at the mileage, I would get real nervous. What killed the batteries? A blown out clutch/transmission doesn't kill batteries...

The $600 motor option would be for the HO vs. the SO in 03. The diesel is (was) the standard motor in a 3500. The 6 speed would have been another $400. That was why I went SO on my 3500, figured the grand could be better spent on BOMB's.
