Was wondering where the new whistle was coming from, and sure enough the intake manifold gasket is blown in the very front near #1 cylinder. Boost is close to normal, and it really announces itself when the Hot PE is on Level #3.

How many others have had the same? I just turned 36,000 miles.

That should DEFINATLEY still be covered under warranty. Its odd that it would happen, especially so soon. Let us know what the dealer says. I am curious to hear about what a dealer will say to an engine repair on the Cummins. The one near me said they have NEVER worked on one yet.

Well I would never say it is "definetely" covered under warrantee. The signature shows DD2s, a Hot PE and a PE EZ... boost would be way beyond normal. Let us know what the dealer says.

I blew my intake gasket... ordered a new one from Cummins, about 10 bucks. Removed the front three fuel lines and the plate slid out. Fairly easy to do.

Warranty? I don't think I'd waste Dodge's time on a $3 gasket. I took care of it myself. Very simple, and only #1 fuel line had to be taken off to slide it forward and out.

Also, replaced the grid heater gaskets. All total, $12 at Cummins Southwest.

Yes, all bolts were tight, but I guess it was too much boost for the original gasket. Everything is all fine now, and boost is back to spec, and the truck feels stronger, of course.

While I was at it, I cleaned the IAT, it really wasn't dirty, but hey, I cleaned it anyway.

Now we're ready for one of those Piers' turbos. Looking forward to seeing the improvements, too.

And of course, I'll be selling them, too. (That's not a plug for Piers, is it?) Oh well, I'll definitely report on it after I install it next week.

Look out Stefan, we're heading North of the border! Canada bound, and ready to race!

Painted Mine Black

I removed mine just so I could smooth it out and paint it black. Looks so much better now  I think I only loosened up 2 or 3 lines and removed the APPS (throttle) assy and it came out easily.

Fred, are you going to install the one with the larger compressor housing or the twin turbo? I'm specifically interested in the twin set-up - looking for more info. as soon as it's available. Thanks!
