this, from Diesel-Central
W2MP2L,
this was posted shortly after the event. and the first time was at Muncie, earlier this year. Where I was present.
"Robert Swartz of Blue Chip Diesel approached me again while at Scheid, about another dyno shootout between TST and Blue Chip, using the latest programs. I agreed to do it, and it drew quite a crowd to watch... What else I had on my truck was: stock Hx40 16cm2, DD3 injectors, unhooked the VanAaken unhooked the propane. Repeat: No VA, no propane.
Final results:TST won, 453HP, 1144 ft. lbs. This is with the PowerMax3 box I run on the street every day, and it had just been re-programmed by Mark Chapple in an effort to get rid of the turbo lag from the Hx40 (yes, it worked)
Blue Chip box, in "race" program: 432HP, 1087ft. lbs. At Thunder in Muncie,in the first shootout, I had 445 HP, 1232ft. lbs. with the Blue Chip box.
Keep in mind that Blue Chip has a VERY, VERY good product, and I support them fully ! Their box is USER-programmable, where TST is not. It also has more features. (whether you need or want those features is what determines which box you should get) I have my own reasons for preferring to run TST, not the least of which is that I'm only a 2 hour drive from TST's shop. The fueling curves and duty cycle on the TST also seem to be more easily programmed than the Blue Chip, with TST you have a graph with infinite adjustments, with Blue Chip, it's buttons on the box itself.
I also want to apologize to Brett and Taylor of Edge Products , and Van Haisley of JVD Engineering for not trying their boxes on my truck. It was easily more dyno runs than I wanted to make, and I was advised against it by several people I prefer not to name(who had my interests & finances at heart). In retrospect, it would have been great if we could have found another truck set up identically to mine, 2 boxes on each truck...
You absolutely can't go wrong with Edge Products, I still love their stuff, enough that I regret not having it on my truck right now. It was great to have them with us at the Scheid rally.
The JVD boxes I have no experience with, but the Ohio 24valve gang seems to be very partial to it, they have really strong pulling trucks and are winning every weekend... "
