4x4 vs. 4x2 in midwest??

Even those Ford boys use the good stuff...

Has anyone increased the hp on a Mercedes? I'm looking at a 1998 E300D but it only has 134hp & 155lbs. torque. Now what's up with that? I always thought that diesels have lots of torque compared to hp.

Anyway, looking for a way to increase hp besides just a K&N & bigger exhaust.

Thanks,

Lonnie

If the kids at Van Aaken can't help (unlikely, they are the ones to talk to) then stop over at www.mercedesshop.com (diesel forum, free registration) and talk to those guys. If it was pre-1990 I could hook you up with about 25% more power, but the electronic engines are much harder to do.

25% more power?

How can I do this? My mom has an 84 300 d, and it is pretty slow. I would love to be able to give her some more power. Plus I am already going to be putting guages, comp and e brake on my dads 01 so we can have a family bombing party, just need to find someting for my 96 that I bought off the old man, I have to keep my truck faster than his.

Pat, shoot me an email off line and I will get you some info out. Might take a while to get back to you as I will be out of town the rest of the week.

HP and TQ

Remember that the closer an engine will rev to 5252 RPM, the less the disparity between hp and tq since Hp=tq at that rpm.

The Cummins is a relatively low revver (2700) so it's HP is just slightly over half its torque on the ETH models. Lower revs means less HP.

HP=(tq*rpm)/5252

The Mercedes is a great engine, and I think that if Van Aaken makes anyting for it, you will be very happy.
