Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Small seep on pan gasket

I installed a boost gauge today, but the nylon tubing got a little kink in it. It appears to be ok, but the boost is different then I expected it to be. I guess I am asking: what is normal?

Most of the time, I register no boost until I grab 3rd gear, than i can get some. It maxes out at ~27psi in 5th@high rpm. I also see NO boost under most normal driving conditions. Only when I dip into the fuel do I see it rise. Typical cruise @70MPH I get about 6psi-- just barely off zero. Any kind of deceleration it will dive to zero. The gauge is a 0-60psi Autometer.

I guess this is normal, as it makes sense that the engine will only boost when it's under load. More load= more boost, right?

I just want to see if my install went well, since the EGT didn't (see other thread). Murphy's Law, you know?

I am surmising that I won't see any boost numbers over 25-27ish since I am running around empty.

I tapped the intake horn just under the dipstick (in the back) with 1/8"NPT. Wasn't too hard to take the horn and heater grid assembly off. (have 10mm, will travel:)

Thanks

That's almost exactly same as mine. I haven't put my boost elbow on, so I max out at about 22psi. I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks a bunch. I put the elbow on in my case. I just want to make sure the gauge is working right and the kink in the line isn't screwing up my boost readings.

Looks like I am OK. WHEW!!

OK, now that we got the boost question out of the way...

What about a report on the ETH + EZ

Seat of the pants improvment? Ready to terrorize unsuspecting Duracracks and Powerchokes???

The EZ made a HUGE difference. :--) :D

After about two months I got used to it though... . So now I have an AFE and 4in exhaust. I figure by christmas I will have injectors and a clutch :{ :D This is getting expensive!

It's a nice drivable package (see sig). It pulls great and as mentioned EGT's are no problem, I've yet to go over 1000'. But I can get some clutch slip if I get on it below 1800 RPM though with the current set up. My largest torque increases are down low according to dyno pulls.
