Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) "Kwikspool" Question

On my truck ( see sig) I have a Diesel Dynamics TTPM box. It came with two different boost "elbows" for the wastgate. One was for the soft line type and the other is for the hard line that I have on my truck for the line between the turbo and the wastegate actuator.

Has anyone installed the kind for the hard line plumbing. It look like from the directions that you had to remove and drill the line and then slide in the "elbow" ( restriction) in the line.

Is it worth it? My concern is if I have to go to the dealer and remove the box, that I'll set over boost codes as the box will not be there as the boost fooler. Right? Also if they look close and see the hole or remove the hard line and see the "elbow" i would be outta luck.

Is this worth it to make the box/engine run for effiecent with the extra fuel from the box? Is there any other easier way to accomplise the same thing?

Thanks for any help/comments/experiences good or bad.

I have an ez instead of the ttpm but they are pretty close. I ran for quite a while without the elbow. Since I also have a hardlined wastegate I had the same problem as you. There are a couple of other methods you can use. One is to use a spent 22 shell a search on here should give that method. The method that I used was to use a turnbuckle. Just go to the hardware store and get a turnbuckle of the appropriate length and one or 2 "s" hooks depending on the style of turnbuckle you get. Hook one end around the lever of the wastegate controller (at the end of the rod but on the actual lever the rod attaches too), the other end around the casting of where the rod comes out of the turbo housing. You may have to bend the hook a bit to get a good fit on that end as it is a bit wide. Use a jamb nut on the turnbuckle otherwise as time goes by it will loosen and fall off. Also you want to get it fairly tight otherwise it will just fall off (btdt). It takes a bit to get it on the first time just figuring out the best way to get to it etc but you can have it off in 1 minute and back on again in couple minutes after you have done it once or twice. Remove the airbox for more arm room but also a one minute job. I did not notice any real increase in power with it but I did notice lower egts at higher boost levels. I went from 20lbs boost before to 28lbs afterwards. It really helped on the grades going up the mountains for egts. Some have also used a spring on one end of the turnbuckle so that the wastegate will open after it overcomes the spring but you will have to experiment with springs to find the right combo. They will be short and very stout springs like a brake spring or the like. There was a picture of the method on here with instructions at one time you might ry a search on the turnbuckle method for more info.

Turnbuckle

I attempted to post a pic of turnbuckle for you but it is to big. I'll email it to you, makes it easy to understand. Good luck if you need more help just ask. Dwayne

If you guys are talking about the hardline on the HY, I just took a 22 cal shell and pressed it into the line. I worked great, but the drawbacks are it completely pulgs the wastegate off.

I put the restrictor in the hard line and drilled the tube. I can hear the turbo more now and I can feel a bit more power than before I put it in and just ran the EZ box. I will take my chances with the warranty. If the tech finds the hole, oh well. I wanted lower EGT's.
