I was driving the truck Friday night with the stereo and A/C off and noticed something for the first time since installing the Edge EZ and boost elbow. Maximum boost is running 30 psi, but at about 28 psi, the turbo whine and whistle (BHAF) becomes a louder "whoosh"! At first I thought it sounded like a boost leak, but I'm still getting 30 psi maximum boost, and EGT's look OK. I never heard this when the truck was stock and running 22 psi maximum boost.
Just to be sure, I checked and retightened all the intercooler hose clamps - no change in sound. Have those of you who are running this same setup noticed this phenomenon? Am I just hearing the wastegate opening and it's louder because of the higher airflow at the higher boost levels? Should I be checking further or just drive it?
Thanks for your suggestions.
