Competition 215 vs 175

Competition Hi-Flo VP44 numbers...

How much boost is it safe for me to build up before I take off the line in 4hi? Trany is stock and I don't want to break any shafts or ujoints or anything.

Do a search on what Rhonda leaves the line at. I think it's around 24 pounds but I'm not positive. I'm going to give 20+ a shot once I get hardened input and output shafts. Should be fun.

Most stock shafts will take 15psi easy, but you are taking a chance. I used to launch at 20PSI all thei tmwith my stock output shaft,no problems. I broke it at 28psi opps!. Now with DTT/Opie billet output shaft,i can launch at 30 easliy.

Clayton, your drag racing, thats the bottom line. Drag racing anything is hard on parts. IMO if your trucks stock and your not abusive, you can drag race for a LONG time with no problems. As HP goes up,reliablity goes down, and so does life of parts, especially those behind the Cummins, and critical seal between the block/head, LOL. Dont ask me how I know:rolleyes: . I tell my buddies who see me race my truck this,if you cant afford to pay, dont play.

BTW ive never lost a U joint, i did wear out the original rear joint ot the D70,but it happeend after 75K,and was dry,i had a vibration that got worse under power, went away on coast. Ive hopped my truck pretty bad off the line, had all 4 smoking, and hopping,I thought id have broke more by now,esp with plowing. IMO if you havea STD you are much more likey to damage the u joints, driveshafts and rear ends, due the shock loading/unloading,and lack of a cushioning effect the auto gives in fluid coupling.
