I was just wondering if I am low on boost pressure and if so, what might be wrong. I am running an Autometer Sport Comp and loaded or empty have not seen over 18-19 PSI under full throttle. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the reply. I am a new member and haven't figured out how to add my signature. But here is the pertinent information on my setup. 2001. 5, auto, 3. 54 w/trailer tow and camper pgk. PacBrake, Mag-Hytec trans cover, 2 guage pillar mount, ATS 4" cat back exhaust w/SS Magnaflow tip. AFE air filter, Edge EZ.

Hit your edit button and scroll down where it says show signature, click on it and select save messages, your sig should then come up;) Remember every time you post or reply you will have to do it... .

Have you modified the turbo wastegate in anyway? You have the HY35 turbo.

Have have a bit of extra fuel, but your wastegate is still opening at "stock" settings. Therefore you will only see the 19lbs your seeing.

You need to slow the wastegate down, by using a spring, turnbuckle, or any of the other methods. Just use the search feature and do some searches, theres some good threads out there.

To add your signature, look at the lil buttons towards the right hand top. Click on User CP, then edit profile. A lil ways down the page you see Signature box, put your signature there. THen when you post you can check the "Show signature" box.

Also now you can view anyones signature by looking at their profile.

Thanks for the replys guys. I guess my question then becomes, do I really need more boost pressure? This setup runs beautifully, pulling an 8500lb (empty, probably closer to 10K loaded) 5er. I have power to burn, having just returned from a trip over the Cascades to Central Oregon, I never got under 55mph in 3rd gear unless I had to slow down for a corner. I previously owned a 96 12 valve, with a banks kit, which as you know, is basically just turning up the pump 30 thousands, advancing the timing and different exhaust and K&N air filter. I have to tell you, there is a world of difference between that setup and what I now have. So... ... ..... maybe I shouldn't question my boost pressure, but was just curious because others in this forum are suggesting boost of 25psi or more.

Regards,

Roger

PS. Than ks for the tips on my signature and I will address it in my next post.

Well only you can judge if you need more boost.

If your EGT's stay managable with the stock boost levels theres really no reason to turn it up. If your running hotter then you like, then turn it up to 25lbs and your EGT"s will drop.

With just the EZ more boost is not "needed" in most cases.
