Rancho 9000 Installation

I'm replacing my front end parts etc. etc. and am wondering which is worth the money and which is better in regards to quality, customer service, instruction, and did it help? I have been noticing alot of complaints about the Borg set screw off 90deg. Is this easy to overcome or does it make the install a waste of time. And yes I have read some other post and did a search, but want some first hand new info for my major project... ..... I am through with the crappy dealers trying to take care of things so I'm going to bite the bullet and replace it myself with hopefully something that will last. I get the same answer "can't duplicate the sloppy steering, or you have the sport steering package and thats the way is suppose to handle". You can shake my stock one back and forth at the steering box, I'm sure that my box is junk to but will try the other stuff first. Thanks to all this place is awesome... ... ... . Dwayne:cool: :D

Also prices and where to purchase would be great thanks... ...

Wayne, although I don't have any first hand info for you on this topic, I have read virtually every thread pertaining to steering shafts for at least the last couple of years or so.

At one time I was pretty hot on the Borgeson unit however, after many reports of lousy customer service, lousy installation instructions, and at least one warranty dispute by a very[/U] reputable TDR member, coupled with the associated corrosion problems (and the fact that they will void your steering shaft warranty if you paint it), pretty much made my decision.

After a recent thread I was a part of, I've decided to go with a Flaming River steering shaft with the optional plating feature.

just put my borgeson on last night... . I WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER BORGESON !!

YOU HAVE TO CUT OFF THE TIP OF THE SHAFT COMING OUT OF THE BOX TO GET THE SHAFT TO WORK. IT SEEMS TO BE NO MORE HEAVIER THAN THE STOCK UNIT. THE SET SCREW IS OFF 90 DEG. ETC, ETC,... ... ... ...

After reading the thread that John refers to about warrantee refusal, I figured the TDR subscription paid for itself (again) and I bought a Flaming River. No problems on the install.

If you've read all the threads, you've already seen my comment on keeping the wheel lined up with the box.

If your pitman arm is moving vertically, you will see a bigger gain with the box replacement. The stiffening bracket that adds a bearing underneath it is also a good addition, I need to do that next.

Well I may be in the minority, but I've been *very* happy with my Borgeson. The included installation instructions were very clear, and I had no problems whatsoever (and I should point out that anything much more than an oil change is significant work for me). While the set screw didn't line up with the existing flat spot on the splined shaft coming out of the steering gear box, ten seconds with a small file made a new flat spot for the set screw. No big deal.
