Friends,
Worked in new RV during the past bad weather events doing happy to glad things like replacing cheesey RV exhaust fan in bathroom with Fantastic Fan, adding sound bars to the bedroom and livingroom TVs, and loading this beast. BIL coming over this weekend, so might show him available space for him to fabricate an auxiliary fuel tank. OEM tank is 70 gallons so my calculations, there's good space in the DEF bay on driver's side and good space in the propane tank and RV batteries bay on the passenger side. I'm thinking 50 gallons works. With the 8K Onan diesel genset and the solar panels, my DW suggested we start doing off grid camping, which sounds like fun. We're hoping on going to Kerrville TX for a few days in mid March... there's some 7% grades out there I'd like to try out.
I found the build sheet on my Durastar: rear springs and axle 19K pounds and front axle is 10Klbs. I also found International and Freightliner use the Allison 2000 series trans heavily in the school bus and delivery van markets. The Allison 2500 is in its 5th generation, so been around a long time and likely will be around a lot longer. I really like that the Allison has an external spin on filter and drain plug... no need to pull the pan on fluid changes.
The last of my filters came in yesterday... got two of everything including the Fleetguard Nano fuel filter. Happily, this Cummins 6.7L uses same oil filters as the Rams. The genset has it's own separate water fuel separator/fuel filter, so gotta get the filter number for it and oil air filters for it.
EDIT: Didn't want to write a separate post to say looks like oil capacity is 15 quarts, about 3 quarts more than our Rams.
Cheers and Happy Trails, Ron
