Much googling & phone work today.
The "famous shop" the guy mentioned had no idea on what this guy was talking about.
Seems like a LOT of the lower end in the price range 12v manifolds are cast using the same mold as the 24V. This seems quite common until about the $400+ range.
Anyway, I may have found an BD manifold for $200 delivered. I think I'll get that. The part number ends in "SS" , does this mean it's stainless steel?
Either way, I believe the BD manifold uses a specific 12v mold(going to verify first) so I'll be snapping that one up & sending this one back.

Sure, the same molds work for both 12v and 24v, but once the port mouths are machined for one or the other, the manifold will not seal on the other type head.

Hmm, I can get a specific 12 or 24v manifold from my distributor for @ $225. I've sold a lot of them. They are different castings, however. The 12v is larger where it bolts to the head to accommodate the D ports, while the 24 valve is thinner overall. The 12v models I get usually need a stud on the top two center bolts to be torqued correctly. The allen head bolts can't be lined up correctly to get a wrench on to torque to specs. But overall, they've been good to me. Some of the hotter engines have leaks in the expansion joints until they heat up, but that's common in larger engines, too. I think EGTs are mostly too blame.

BD builds some Stainless manifolds, but I'm not aware of any 3 piece ones in SS. If it's a one piece, it's very likely.....

HH, that's a GOOD price.
The part number left on my machine is 1045980ss
I told him if had something slightly used....to keep the price down, as long as it "hasnt been run hard on a highly fueled engine"
Well see,,,

That's is the part number for BD, the SS suffix would denote Stainless steel. MAP pricing is $470. That's a good deal. Being SS, if it's been overheated severely, it will show black and blue anodizing. Black is common at the ports and flange area. As always, take a straight edge, and check the flatness of the ports.

I got an ATS 3 piece manifold around 8 years ago. I was very unimpressed with the casting. I spent hours cleaning out the ports with a porting bit. I removed large amounts of material. That said, I have been happy with it since. Just something to look at.

I recommend porting any brand ex manifold for a performance application. With the right tools it doesn't take too long. A very good job can be done on the 3 piece styles. I was not impressed when they started shipping them assembled. I have a head on my porting bench that made assy accurate and fast outside the engine compartment

I have a 1/4hp dremel, no problem.:-laf
Spoke to the fleabay seller. He was real nice, told me his UPS acct number & to return it using his acct.
Now I got to figure this out.

Turned out that BD number was NOT a bd.
HH, check yer mail.:D

Yea, my email is all messed up. I'm having issues accessing it, while transitioning from firefox to chrome, windows 10 decided I needed it.:(
I'm in computer hell right now.

Be that as it may, the firefox wouldnt let me type a sentence before crashing. Quite literally... it crashed every 15 seconds.
The chrome is functioning as it should, and the Win 10 upgrade seems to be working too.
No more FF for me.:D
