I've seen these options discussed in the past. I don't really want to go the airbag route due to expense and trouble of cutting the camper springs off. Anybody with a camper find the rancho's resolve the spoungy ride problem?

Ted, I dont have a camper on my truck but I think your best bet would be to go with Rancho 9000 shocks. They have 5 different ride quality settings that you could experiment with. From Ultra Stiff(#5) to mushy(#1). I had these shocks and should have went with them again. I loved em... ... ... ... Good Luck, Bill

Put the Rancho 9000s on and don't wait.

I waited until 19000 miles on my 97 Ram before I replace the OEM shocks with Rancho 9000s. I had 1300 miles on my 99 Ram when I put a set of 9000s on. The positive effect on the ride and control are more than noticable. BTW, I have this almost new set of OEM shocks setting in the barn if any one is interested!

Ted, see the 1994-2000 Ram Second Generation. Go to page 2. See " Shocks". posted by Rotton Rob. About the 15th reply by R A Dreher has a good soruce for Rancho 9000s Bill

Hi Ted, The use of air bags do not require the removal of the camper springs. They mount on top. With a 3/4 ton / camper combo, you will most likely need them to transfer some weight forward. RonL

Thanks all for your feedback.

Ron, weight is split 50/50, or very close (5000 front, 5000 rear).

Rear goes down about 4 inches.

Front doesn't move. Does that mean I need to have rear come back up?

I ordered the rancho's. I really don't want to go for the airbags.

REAR GOES DOWN 4 INCHES, FRONT STAYS ABOUT THE SAME

REAR WEIGHT ABOUT 1K MORE THAN FRONT (5600/4600)

I ESTIMATE 10% OF CAMPER WEIGHT ON FRONT AXLE
