ABS and brake lights are on so I had the brakes changed all the way around for $312. 00 here in Tucson, AZ. But my lights are still on. I Checked the fluid and its up where its suppose to be. Could there be a vaccum pump problem or what. I did replace the seals and orings in the vaccum pump but it started leaking on me again. Oh well no oil on the ground yet so Im not gonna sweat it. How can I have the pump tested if so. Also is there away to check the pressures on the power steering pump. It blew oil out of the cap a few times I think cause there was times there was no oil in it but could not find any leaks but the motor oil coming out of the seals. Can I pressure test. My truck steers like **** and when im backing into a parking space and i crank it hard I can hear the pump. Not really winding like a empty pump but a different sound. Heck Id make the sound but you guys wouldnt hear it!:D I got the DTT track bar on and it does need a rebuild but i dont think thats that cause. I also have the stabalizer bar from the DT. But I think all the slop is in the gear box again. This gear box came from the guy in LA that builds them for NASCAR. He is on Lankershim Blvd. Forgot the name. I did the over the center adjustment but the shaft or what ever it is did not seem to turn at all or maybe a hair. I did not want to crank on it hard. Im getting so tired of this truck steering that I almost but a 2500 chevy with the 8. 1 motor. But my truck is lucky I got a BK on my hands so were stuck together. Now I gotta take care of her more. Anybody got any suggestions. . Im on the 3rd gear box or will be buying my fourth now. . Where is the cheapest place to buy? I tend to sometimes almost loose control of the truck on higher speeds here since the I-10 speed limit is 75 mph.

Mike -

Check the sensor on the top of the rear pumpkin. Its probably a bad sensor or chimped wire. There have been several posts recently about this very subject.

As for your power steering pump I have no idea. . I switched to synthetic fluid and all my problems when away. You might want to completly drain it and refill and see what happens.

For your steering, get a DSS from Piers. It braces the bottom of the steering shaft. I got one on my truck and it improved the handling a bunch. My dad got one and he said it drove like it was brand new.

Tucson is a long way from Alaska. . you seem to be going the wrong direction... when you coming back :D

Yeah I got the DSS already and the DT Track bar JR but still is worse than driving an old farm truck. Especially at 80 mph! I do need to rebuild the DT though. . But just know not all the slop is in the track bar. Yes I know im going the wrong way lol... gonna be getting to dam hot here soon. YUK!

JR2 is correct. Replace the Rear Wheel Speed Sensor on top of the differential. They are a little over $30 from Dodge and easy to change.

My ABS and Brake light came on 3000 mi ago. ABS is inoperative. 4 wheel lock up on hard breaking. Does your ABS still function? have you done any hard stops to see if it still functions?

As long as your lights (ABS & Brake) are on, the ABS is inoperative. Replace the rear wheel speed sensor, the lights go away and the ABS returns to normal.
