Brake Controller Opinions

I am ready to install a brake controller in my 2003 HO 6 speed. When I sold my 98 Ram, I kept the Draw-Tite Activator II for possible reinstall in my new RAm.



Is there anything better on the market with better technology than the Draw Tite Activator II ? I have no problems with it, just want the best. If you suggest some other controller, please say why you feel its better.



I am pulling a 20' Gooseneck equipment type trailer hauling a

7000# 1967 Dodge Power Wagon (wm-300). With the 98 Ram Quad Cab, Short Box V-10 and the trailer loaded, my GCVW on certified scales was 17,760#

I've never run with yours, have had several inertia type controllers. This is the best, hands down my opinion. And as expected. . . the most expensive. Well. . . actually there are better ones, but require mounting electronic or hydraulic parts on the trailer, I can't do that cause I deliver new trailers to dealers. Be a pain to be mounting things on new trailers and probably forget it and drive off. Done that with those teflon pads for the kingpin, after donating 3 to dealers I now use grease.

I've had both and they are both true proportional brake systems. The BrakeSmart senses brake pressure with a hydraulic sensor mounted to the brake system. The Jordan uses a mechanical cable attached to the brake pedal. I think the BrakeSmart is an easier installation, even with the sensor mounting. The BrakeSmart is about $350 and the Jordan is about $150.

I have the jordan and love it. I have never seen a brakesmart. I know the Jordan works as well as the old style I used to install Pre ABS that tapped into the brake system.

I just put a Jordan on my new 600 and pulled my 33' 5er over the divide! This controller work better than anything I have seen out there. I have not tried the brake smart, but the Jordan works perfectly! It is very easy to adjust and once it is set your done. There is also an ohm meter built right into the unit so you can check your magnets. My controller cost me $129. 95 including shipping from a dealer in Wyoming. I highly recommend a Jordan!

When I got my Jordan the Brakesmart wasn't quite out.



After using my Jordan with both my fifth-wheel and a U-Haul auto transport trailer on round trips to the Canadian border, I'm totally happy with it.



The only reason I'd change controllers is if I would up with a trailer with Electric over Hydraulic brakes. [Jordan recommends the Brakesmart for those!]

I looked at the Jordan Page. From the picture, it looks like the sender is bolted to the brake pedal arm, and the cable runs to the control box. Is the brake pedal end of the cable anchored like a bowden cable, or does the entire cable move right to the controller ? How does this work once set when you have power pedals ? Thank you for all the replies to my question, great help

I have the outer jacket of the cable mounted to the metal piece that is part of the dash (all hidden under the dash), then the inside of the cable attaches to a special spring loaded thing on the brake pedel. yes, only the inside of the cable moves.

Adjustable Pedals

Jordan has a bracket that attaches it to the adjustable pedals. It works great and the customer support is fantastic!

Wow, I'm really outnumbered here, but I have to put a plug in for the Tekonsha Prodigy. I think it's the most advanced inertia controller (I too, switched from a Drawtite II, time based). Installation was super easy (two screws into the dash). I bought the adaptor harness ~$12. 00 which plugs the unit right into the Dodge connector (no splicing, at all). Very easy, and it works absolutely great for me (does everything I could ask).
