Can I pull my PU

Pullrite Hitch Question

Does Dodge have a Breaker vs a fuse in Towing Pkg?

Does anyone know OFF THE TOP. If the OEM put an auto reset Circuit breaker to protect the circuit (towing pckg), on a 05 3500 srw with the tow pkg. I would assume they would just like headlites if it were a fuse it would be lights out or in the towing brakes cast NO TRAILER BRAKES and this could be BAD.

Thanks, Bill

I looked thru the Dodge site and it appears to me that they use fuses. I am still checking around for more information

I have the drawings for the 2004 model on my website at http://www.klenger.net/dodge/7-pin-connector-installation/trailer-tow-wiring.pdf

All circuits except the backup lights have fuses. I would need to dig further to see how the backup light line is projected. Blowing a fuse on the trailer tow circuit does not disable any functionality with the truck's functions that control the tow connecter. In other words, if you blow the fuse for the trailer brakes, it has no effect on the truck's brakes.

Klenger Thanks, Yes I realize the truck would not be affected if brake controller power fuse blew. I also under stand that the Jordan has an internal breaker to protect it if some where down the line from the controller to trailer wire grounded out.

Question:

Do you think I should power my controller with a breaker rather than use the stock fused pwr in the harness. I could insulate the end of the stock hot wire and always use it to power something else inside the cab

Thanks again, Bill

I guess I can take the Trucks trailer brake hot wire and ground it and if I hear a click and there is power again at this wire I will know it is on a breaker. If not I guess I will have to buy a fuse.
