I have had this problem since 10000 miles, and a brake squeal has decided to come with it. I saw another newer ram with a lot of brake dust on this same wheel and was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I took it apart this morning and cleaned up the rotor and pads, but could find any reason why they would be squealing. The passenger side looks like it is starting to do this too so I want to fins a fix.

I would do a search for this but I get a message that it has been disabled by the administrators. Why is that?

Thanks

Lee

I had the same problem, except it was on the pass side for me. It would dust up much faster and had a squeal at 20-40mph. I took the wheel off to find the caliper was dragging, but not enough to cause brake pull. It was still under warranty then,so the dealer replaced both calipers for me.

No squeal here in most cases, but BOTH the driver's and passenger's side get dirty with break dust REAL fast. I don't brake hard, and rarely tow - my wheels are completely brown with dust in 3-4 weeks after a wash.

Lee,

I have this same problem, drivers side pads squeal (sp?) like a pig. I wash my truck weekly and it doesn't help. I talked to both the dealer and a brake shop I trust. They both said that the pads are prone to glazing over and suggest removing the pads and lightly sanding the glaze off. I haven't tride this myself, but now that its hot up here and I keep my windows open I'm getting annoyed with the squeal.

Hope this helps.

BTW, I towed round trip appx. 3k miles, after the trip the noise was gone for a week.

The mechanic at the dealership I use told me that on my wife's Grand Cherokee, the reason the brakes squealed on it was because the calipers needed greasing. I pulled them off, deglased the pads, greased the caliper rods and the squealing stopped.

mine dusted up bad and the squeal would come and go , but has gotten better now after a few miles on 22k, very seldom hear the squeal now. :D
