I'm not sure when this started happening but everytime I touch the brake pedal I blow the 20a fuse under the hood. I just put the truck back together a couple of weeks ago from doing the kdp but I don't know if I had the problem before that or not. I followed the 2 brake wires along the frame rail and found 1 spot where it had been rubbing on the shock. The wires were exposed and had some dirt on them. I just wrapped electrical tape on it for now to cover them up. I don't see any other parts of the wire rubbing anywhere. Anybody have a similar problem?

Sure have. Matter of fact, I'm having the same problem on my '95 dually right now. Every time I touch the brake petal, the fuse blows and the ABS and BRAKE lights both burn. What did you end up doing to fix the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I am supposed to be trailering to Texas from Illinois tomorrow! Thanks in advance.

Start with changing the tail lights , sometimes the filaments can do odd things [ touching internally ] , if you still have problem , disconnect either end of the harness , use a multi meter to see if there is any contact between wires [ that shouldn't or ground ] , its also common to have some issues around the trailer plug .

Thanks John. When I looked, I had a tail light bulb out (shorted). Still have the problem.

Where do I find the harness end? I think if I could find these ends (on the truck) it would really help with narrowing down where to look for the short.

Also, I have 2 trailer plugs (bed/bumper) both of which I have completely disconnected while troubleshooting.

Thanks again for the speedy reply.

IIRC, they meet in the rear middle in or around the trailer wiring harness and bumper marker light area. Been a while. One harness per side and meet together.

As I said, though, been a while.

Check for a good ground.
