Hooked up my brake module today, and no brakes. The module is working and it is plugged into the factory wiring harness. Anyone with a manual for a 2000 know if there is a fuse or something? Or better yet, what is the path this blue wire takes to get from the plug inside to the 7 pin connector out back?

Fred

I've read that there are some issues with the ground using the factory brake harness.

Sorry I can't help more. Ryan

Don't know about Hayes controller but here is the wiring diagram for Tekonsha. This only
goes up to 99 Dodge, don't know if 01 is the same. From the truck pigtail to the
controller: The Lt. Blue goes to the Blue, the Red/Tan goes to Black, the White goes to
Red, the Black goes to White. From the truck pigtail the functions are: Lt. Blue-Brake,
Red/Tan-12 volts, White-Stoplight, Black-Ground. On the controller, functions are:
Blue-Brake, Black-Power, Red-Stoplight, White-Ground.

Fred,

JNutter is right. The Dodge pigtail and the brake controller wires don't match up colorwise. Look at the labels on the wire for hooking up properly. If you hook up an electronic controller incorrectly, you will short it out and it will have to be replaced.

The brake control wire under the dash is uninterruped to the 7 way at the rear of the truck. (No fuses or relays) Check the connector under the driver side frame rail at the rear. The 7 way connector plugs in there. There is another double connector behind the front fender well sheild on the driver's side.

All, thanks for responses. The problem was the blue wire for the brakes that goes through the factory harness. It went from the plug under the dash to a bulkhead connector under the driver's floorboard and stopped there. The blue wire from the 7 pin connector in back came up a different 2 wire haness up to the engine compartment. Someone goofed during install, so I brought the blue wire from back in through the firewall and connected it directly to the brake module.
Brakes work great now!

Could someone tell me what the part number is on the pigtail so I could get one from my dealer?
I bought my truck used and have been real happy with it, just not real thrilled with the way the brake control was wired up. The truck has the tow package so I don't know why it was wired the way it was. Thank you for any help.

The harness can be purchased from Camping World. The part number is 17655 - Dodge Brake Control Harness. This is a Tekonsha part, and may be available at NAPA or other parts stores also.

Here's the link at camping World http://www.campingworld.com/shop/products/index. cfm?type=product&skunum=17655&cl_loc=8

Thanks a million, klenger. I'll check tomorrow if I can get it from my local Napa dealer. Thanks again!

I just installed a Jordan brake controller in my new truck tonight. There is a harness that is supplied with the trailer tow group, and the package listed the part numbers. The wiring harness is Dodge PN 56020142AB and the kit that contains the wiring harness and 7-pin to 4-pin adapter is Dodge PN 56020143AD.

When I switched my brake controler over to my 98, I was not paying attention and wired like colors to like colors. when I installed it, and hit the brakes "I let the smoke out of the controler". After that they don't work! I paid attention when I wired the new controler and it works fine!

Well it works fine as long as I am not braking over bumps, or talking on my 2m radio (trailer brakes go away when I transmit!), but there other problems!
