I am trying to sort out what the better brake pads for my 2003 2WD 2500 would be.

Searching the forums this is what I have found

OEMs expensive but long lasting --> does anyone know the part number so I can track down better pricing online?

Mopar Value lines - Mixed opinion, some posts saying they are ok, some saying they dust like all get out, some saying they don't like them

Hawks - This is not clear since there are 3 or 4 compounds available for our trucks

Hawk HP street -- this is what Geno's carries

looking at tirerack.com the other compounds are

Hawk HPS street pads (is this the same as the one's at Geno's?) (compound composite)

Hawk HP Superduty pads (compound: heavy duty whatever that means)

Hawk LTS Truck/SUV pads

A lot of the comments in the forum on the Hawks don't indicate which compound

Any advice? I really don't haul that heavy since we sold the travel trailer, so I am mostly running relatively lightly loaded.

Thanks

I've used the LTS on an SUV, work very well with very little dust. can't comment on the life of the pad since its only been 4-5k miles so far. I will probably use them on my truck when teh time comes. I have had experience with 3 of the 4 pad compounds you listed as well as their ceramic pads and all have worked extremely well for there intended purpose and application.

Brake pads

I bought the OEMs from recommendations on this site. Not the value line - the actual OEM brake pads. Great pads - quiet, not much dust - but I paid around $ 105. 00. Expensive, but worth it.

I need some brake pads as well. I was leaning towards trying the Hawk's from Genos. I haven't made up my mind though. Whenever I have to replace something on the truck, I always try to make it an opportunity to upgrade it. I'm just not sure if the Hawks are an upgrade or not.

Went with OEM pads

I ended up going with the OEM pads (part number 05093267AA). Only a little bit of fussing with the rattle clips. The local dealership has an online parts presence as well, and by printing out the online pricing I was able to save a bit on the pads. I paid $97 for the OEM pads ($141 list).

Seems to stop pretty well, but I have not gone all that far yet.

Also, after I finished I found this parts list for OEM parts http://starparts.chrysler.com/starlibrary/marketing/brakes/brakes.pdf
