Ok, So I reverse bleed the Brakes rear, then Front again. First I put gas rated (yellow) Teflon tape on the bleeder screws so they would stop leaking by the threads. Then I got/adapted small tubing to go from the pressure bleeder tank to the bleeder screws and fit snugly. Then I pushed about a liter & 3/4 up the rear lines, then refilled the tank & pushed it up the front lines. After that the pedal felt soft / spongy.
I then set up the bleeder as normal, filled it with fresh brake fluid and bleed the brakes normally going around the truck two or three times.
eventually, I got a ok pedal: brakes apply after a couple inches, still sinks, but not all the way to floor, stops a few inches from floor ?!?
I tried running the truck in forward and reverse (on jack stands) and trying brakes lightly. Found they engage quite soon despite not feeling it in the pedal... but enough to try to stall engine! So I decided it was time to try to drive it. I've read some posts where guys dove the truck and it worked the bubbles out.
I reassembled and drove the truck and brakes were better than I expected. Seems like when engine is running faster / vehicle is moving it has more brakes and is not doing the pedal sink think so much. I did park at the parts store and come out and have the pedal sink clear to the floor once... but never again since then???
I've now driven the truck to work a few days (150-200 miles?) including some tollway & the brakes seem to be feeling more normal. No more sinking pedal unless I pump up the brakes to the top of the pedal, then it sinks back down about half way or so....
I want to readjust the rear brakes and see if it helps the pedal height...
& I still have the brake light on & need to troubleshoot that, It's been of for years & I've always thought it was just the parking brake pedal. It used to go from bright red with the parking brake on, to dim with parking brake off...
