I recently inspected the front brakes and they do need some servicing. I called the local parts store and they indicated they have semi metalics at $15 all the way to the super duper heavy duties at $75. I don't mind spending the $ if they are worth it but was wondering if anyone has tried the HD's. The salesman may be exagerating a little #ad
?

I pull a 25' Donahue flatbed with about 10K of tractors on it. Do these pads have any history pro or con?

Also while looking the job over I noticed the lug bolts sit in front of the rotor instead of the rotor siting on the lug bolts. Is there a procedure available to review before I start, 99 4x 3/4 ton. I don't want to tie up Momma's garge too long or it's the dog house #ad
:9!! and she parks her new FORD in there.

Anyway thought I'd try and see if there is any info on these pads from NAPA.

I just did front brake pads last weekend. It didn't take long at all.

1) I went with the expensive pads. I didn't even think about it. I don't have a rationale here. It just seemed right.

2) When I had the truck jacked up and took the lug nuts off the rim didn't want to come off. Rust and the like. I sprayed where the rim met the hub. I then put a little wrecking bar behind the rim, added a spacer behind the bar for leverage. A small amount of effort poped the rim loose.

3) My pads did not come with anti squeal lube. Possibly the feeling is that it is not needed. I picked up some anyway and lubed the places where the pad touches metal on the caliper.

4) Two allen bolts hold the caliper on. It all came off easy.

5) About 20 min per wheel. Didn't have to take anything but the rim and the caliper off.
