Well I was bored yesterday and decided to do some checking on new rotors for the truck when the time comes.

Every brake thread I see Illflem post about the $59 Bendix from Napa.

Well heres what I found :

  • Advance Auto - Bendix ... ... ... ... ... . $94. 99
  • Autozone - Aamco "Extreme"... ... . $84. 99
  • Carquest - Bendix ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... $120
  • Champion - Wagner ... ... ... ... ... ... ... $105. 98
  • Napa - United... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..... $119. 09
  • O'Reilly - Lifetime Warrenty (USA) $64. 99

A place in CA said they could do custom cross drill for $150. 00 taking about 10 days.

Another place in CA said Front powerstop slotted rotors-$139. 98 each & Front "911 extreme" performance pads-$52. 98

I tried pricing EGR rotors, but its too hard to get a "straight" answer via email. Likes to give out total price instead of breaking it down. I know MCummings broke it down in a list once... ... Cross drilled rotors L+R = 375. 95 each!

A local shop that aligns my truck said they could do ceramic pads on the front for $169 parts/labor. They said thats the "best" they offer. They stated the carbon mettalics would be the next level below that.

Gotta love researching for information... .....

Edit : Forgot to add Napa on the list! opps

Kat ...

I recently replaced rotors ... from NAPA ... not Bendix ... and they were around $80 each ... . can't remember the exact price ... they are nice and run true ...

Beware of information you get from www.napaonline, I've found much of it to be wrong. Just recently I wanted to price out a track bar, napaonline said it was no longer available, went down to the Napa store and they said no problem, even used the same part number as I did in my search. Have also found that all Napas aren't bound by a single price, individual stores can charge whatever they want and carry different items.

Just curious where are you finding those?

They make you select a vehicle... ... ... and I come up with some pads... . and slotted rotors for $80something.

I called around locally because I was hoping to find something around ... ... . Napa was the verst place I tried due to your postings, however the above list I put in alphabetical order.

I don't need brakes yet... ... . but its coming I am sure... ... ... just would like to be prepared when the time comes.

Does the hub/rotor assembly come apart or not? NAPA has part# for hub/rotor and rotor only. I called the parts dept. at the stealer and asked if they came apart. The responce was no. is this the case. I am on duty and can't check it myself.

P. S. It is a 2wd 3500

I think for the 4WD, the rotor comes off the hub from 2000 and newer. I was looking for a rotor and saw one from a 99 and it does not look the same. I was dreading having to pull the hub off thinking it was like a traditional 4x4 front axle when I had chewed up the rotor because my brake pads were too worn...

NAPA quoted me two prices this past spring. The US made rotors were around 90 bucks. Didn't even ask the price for the Jap made one's. Seems to be slight differences in price quotes from different NAPA stores.

ILLFLEM, as usual you come thru with the answer. Thank you very much. I will call NAPA in the morning to order the assembly. Ouch.

I went through this rotor search on my 96 2WD Dually. The early second gen 2WD dually rotor and hubs are a one piece design, i. e. the rotor is cast as part of the hub. The 4WD trucks, including the dually, are a separate hub and rotor.

The price of a 2WD dually hub can vary to as much as $200 each!.

Looking at some of the later year 3500's, at some point Dodge finally made the hub and rotor separate pieces. If I hang onto my 96, the next time I replace the front rotors, I will definitely research whether the later year 2WD hubs will fit (or could be modified) to work on my 96.

I got some rotor and hubs from Napa at a wholesale price and they were still over $100-$125 each and did not come with inner and outer bearings.

Does anyone with a 2WD 3500 have a two piece hub and rotor setup stock from Dodge? What year did they change?
