I do all of my own maintenance... The only time I ever let anyone touch my vehicles is if its still under warranty or if the job requires a proprietary tool which is equal to or more money than the job would cost. Even at that, I know very few mechanics I trust enough. Why?...because I was one when I was younger so I know what goes on behind the scenes.
As for Les Schwab? I wouldnt trust those "trained" clowns to do anything other than mount a tire. And because I'm so distrusting, I dont sit in the lobby eating popcorn either but rather stand outside and watch their every move. And...have caught them doing crazy crap and/or not doing something they were supposed to be doing.
Finding a good and reputable auto mechanic is like trying to find a good and reputable doctor... If they dont know what they're doing then one guesses with your car and the other guesses with your health.
