Coolant fluid leak out of the back of the heads
I have had what is now determined to be a coolant leak out of the back of the head. This leak has been around for the last couple of months. It will leak about cup worth in a six hour period but not all the time.
I thought it was a oil leak because the fluid seemed to be heavier then actual staff in the radiator. The first time it leaked it definitely had a black tint to it as if there was some engine oil in the mix. I have changed oil recently and the fluid leak is completely clear now but still seems to have a heavier constancy to it.
Dealer just called and said they eliminated any heater hoses etc. as the source of the leak and are now sending the truck to the heavy engine dept to find out where it’s leaking from around the back of the head.
My question is …. .
Is there any thing in the back of the head area that could leak coolant other then a serious problem such as head gasket or a cracked block????
A freeze plug maybe??
It leaks over the starter and then on to the transmission lines before hitting the ground.
Why me again. . if the engine needs to be opened I’ll be done with this truck too…would be my second lemon law or buy back case. Truck is been in the shop for very close to the thirty day required for the lemon law just to get it to idle right!
I will still buy antother superduty though 2004 could be the ticket?
