Today, I stopped by a Firestone Tire Dealer & tried to price a set of Bridgestone Revo, 265/70/17/E's for my '03, 3500 (stock sized tire).

Much to my surprise, the guy behind the counter said that he would rather not install them, or any other Bridgestone tire, on mine or anyone elses Dodge Third Gen. 1500, on up, truck.

I asked him "Why?", and he said the company was having too many Bridgestone tires returned because the tires were very unstable on Dodge trucks. Said the front suspension parts, especially ball joints, were "too sloppy" & many of the trucks drove terribly with these tires installed. Said the sidewalls were too stiff.

He even called their "complaint mgr. " to verify their unwillingness to sell them to Dodge owners. I was there during that call.

I've read of a number of people that have the Revo's on their trucks & most everyone seems to be VERY happy, with them. Have any of you had any bad experiences with the Revo's or any other Bridgestone tire? Anyone notice sloppy front suspensions with the use of these tires?

Any experiences with the Revo's would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I ran a set of Revo's on my 98 4 x 4 CTD and found that the fronts exhibited a chopped wear pattern. I had the same problem with Michelin MS and AT as well. I just kept the tires rotated and ended up getting about 30,000 out of the Revos and the Michelins

I'm a Bridgestone dealer and we sell tons of Revo's on Dodge's with no issues. Yes they will wear unevenly on the front if they are not rotated on a regular basis. And they can have some tread squirm when brand new, but changing air pressures has solved this. I think that guy is full of B. S.

There is no "complaint manager" that I am aware of. If we have a tech issue we call the tech department. I have not seen any tech bulletins regarding not installing certain tires on certain vehicles. Did he try to sell you something else? Like maybe something that he had in stock or got a better spiff on.....

well, I find this very intersting because I love the grip of my Revos, but to be honest I started having some serious wandering of the front end after having them put on. Now, I just had to have all the ball joints and ujoints replaced 10,000 mile later and it feels alot better, but still not as good as it was with the factory rugged trail tires. I also, know for a fact that I lost a little mileage. Not sure what I will do when they are worn because I hated the rugged trails for traction and these things just plain kick but in the traction dept, but the rugged trails seemed to drive better.

I was just a tire dealer yesterday to get a quote on them, based on all the good things I have heard, and they didn't say anything.

We melted thru a set in under a year, about 20k miles. Rotated & wore evenly. but not worth $900.

Still looking for a tire that stnads up to the torque, and can handle it's self off road, plowing, etc. The Revos were worthless off of the highway. I have a very bitter story about going thru a field... into a pine tree after just getting it back from being painted.

Ok, I'll quite crying for myself. Best wishes looking for tires!

im currently looking for a set of 285/70/17 revo's for my truck i have a buddy who has them and say they have done him well. i like the styling of them also they are a good highway and rain tire, also pretty good in the snow i have heard.

Bridgestone Revo

I have run these on my truck since early February. I am amazed at how well they handle the snow , rain, mud and the dry conditions. This is the best all season tire I have had on a Dodge truck. As for the durability I will let you know.

I had a buddy that was manager of the local Expert Tire (Firestone) dealer. I was looking for a set of Michelins, but he offered me a smoking deal on a set of Revo's so I went with them.

They seem to perform very well. Yes, after about 10K without rotating the fronts were showing a choppy wear pattern. I rotated the rears up front and all is well. For whatever reason it does seem that rotating these tires is more crucial than the Michelins. Based on wear so far I think I'll get about 40K out of the set. This is a bit less than the 50K I saw on my Michelins.

I think they are a good tire. Just be sure and rotate every 5K.

im glad to hear that others have had good luck with these tires the revo's i mean i will be getting a set very soon. i cant stand the piece of crap rugged trails any more. has anyone else had a problem with the rugged trails chunking really bad. my set has 22,000 on them and are completely worn out. i have rotated every 6,000 miles or so. the chunks are so bad i am afraid to haul anything heavy. they look like they will blow out.

I've had my Revo's since mid January. So far I'm very pleased with them. I don't have any steering problems, tires seem to be wearing evenly.

I am a 2nd genner so this may not be apples to apples but I have run 2 sets of Revos on my 01. I had no problems got 55k and 62k out of them. I did rotate maybe every 10k or so. I also noticed the tread squirm when new but it went away shortly thereafter. The only place I found them to be poor offroad was in the mud. Rain and snow they were great. Just the other day I took the truck to the shop for some radiator work and asked them to take a look at my steering box due to some excessive play. However I was told the drivers side lower ball joint is toast.

If the Revos caused it after 120k (and the previous 60k on the stock michelins) for a total of 182k on the stock ball joints I am now irked. Who do I go talk to about this? :-laf

What some of you guys are experiencing is exactly what the Firestone Dealer said could, possibly, happen. That's what they have been experiencing.

The "Complaint Mgr. " may have been just the complaint dept. He said thay had a meeting with this person, a week ago, & were "warned" not to try to sell the Bridgestone's to Dodge owners, because of these problems.

He did not, initially, try to sell me on any other particular tire. He did try recommending ANY other tire but, the Bridgestone's. I didn't get the feeling, at all, that he was trying to sell me a more "profitable" tire. In fact, he didn't try to sell me any other brand. Just said he could get any tire that I wanted.

Later, he said that he would install the Revo's, if I REALLY wanted them. Offered a 30 day warranty in which time, if I was not happy with them, I could trade them for any other kind of tire.

It seemed like he was being pretty fair about the situation, just didn't want to get involved with what they considered to be a problematic circumstance.

BTW, my BFG Rugged-Trails have 48,000 miles & the local tire store said they still have 40% tread left on them. I've only rotated them a couple of times. I, also, have a 115 gal. aux. fuel tank in the bed of the truck, which, must add another 800 lbs. , or so, to the bed of the truck. These tires are wearing very evenly. Never had them rebalanced. May just go back to them.

Thanks for your suggestions & experiences.

Joe,I had the Revos (265-70-r17 E-rated)installed on my truck about 10,000 miles ago,so far so good. They handle great and are heads and tails above the stock michelins as far as traction in snow and mud. Joe,good reading here also www.tirerack.com coobie :D

Coobie,

Been to Tirerack.com & it's an interesting read.

How do you like the Schaeffer's 9000, so far?

Joe F. (Buffalo)
Howdy Joe,so far so good with the schaeffers 9000 :) I am going to be placing another order for some of there other products next week. Take care, coobie. Oo.

My experience with them was not very good didnt last to long and once they got over half worn they are pretty slick on wet roads and useless in wet grass.

Revo's

I am on my second set of 265 75R 16 Revo's on my 02.

The last set had 61,000 on them with 3/32" tread left. Not enough for the first snow.

I was surprised to read this post, I have had a very good experience with drivability and wear. 90% freeway miles is part of my results of course. A good balance of quiet road tire, snow traction and modest off roading. However you wouldn't catch me without chains in the mountains running Revos.

Bad part is the price is up $150-$200 for 4 from two years ago.
