Brite Box with DRL...Have Solution

Has anyone solved the problem with the lights staying on when running the brite box with daytime running lights? I've come up with a couple ways to turn them off when the problem occurs but it is getting pretty old to have to get out and check to see if the lights are off before walking away from the truck.

Thanks

I talked to Joel at Baker Auto... he faxed me the fix for the Brite Box with DRL...

Unplug DRL Harness

Cut the Red/Orange Wire on Pin 6 (High Beam Out) and splice the harness end to the Red/Grey Wire on Pin 3 (High Beam Indicator)

Cut the Violet/White Wire on Pin 10 (Low Beam In) and connect the harness end to the Plug end of the Red/Orange on Pin 6.

Cap off the Violet/White wire on the plug end of pin 10

Did this fix work for you ? Or do you just have Joel's wiring diagram?

I tried something similar a few months back when I had the time and IT DID NOT WORK for me! {another joel fax}

I like the bright-box but hate butchering factory wiring to make it work.

If they want to sell us these boxes they had better get of their but and supply all of us with drl's a simple pigtail adapter.

Cutting into a factory harness is bull after paying $$ for the box.

Juiced...

Yes I did the mod today... appears to have taken the "flicker" out of the DRL's... ... .

another problem I've had is occasionally the lights would remain on after turning the truck off, this is the problem I am hoping this will fix as the flicker never bothered me. I'll just have to give it time to see if the problem comes back... ...

I agree with you about hacking into the factory harness but I love running the Highs/lows together and did not want to remove the box. The other option was to ground out the DRL's all the time which also required hacking the harness so I figured if I'm cutting wires I want everything to work so I talked to Joel. So far so good.

Juiced. .

Yes I still have the high beam indicator...

The mod described above changes the 99-01 DRL's from High beam to Low beam.

Maybe this is the real fix?

I also had the flicking and buzzing. My lights would also stay on after shutdown every now and then.

I'll print this off and try it in a few months probably X-mas.

I'm heading to South America for work and the Ram will tied-up in the barn until I return.

Thanks jerryrigg

Hello Joel,

Whats the chances of having an adapter made up before I return?

Just to Update You

Well it has been almost a month since I did this mod... It works fine, I have not had any of the previous problems since the mod...

It was somewhat difficult bending my hands backwards to work on the DRL harness but the result is well worth all the swearing involved...
