My '06 broke at about 80K miles. A peice hit the blower cage and made a racket. I removed it at the time.

Been there done that... . I think the 06 owners are the ones most blessed with this ailment. Truth be known, I don't even miss the recirc option, it's still BS that Dodge designed such a crappy HVAC system! Love my Cummins though.

It's not just the '06. My '04 has sporadic AC/Heater directional control. The AC isn't as strong out the passenger side than the driver. The wife hates that. There's no heat to the floor. I think I might have to finally rip out the dash.

i too fell victim to this, seems to be one of the more common 06 problems... dealer fixed mine under warantee. if it the truck didn't have the cummins engine, i never would have bought it because of stuff like this.

Blend door housing

How does the door housing come out on an '06 ? Does it come out from the bottom as it should and how difficult is it to replace? Thanks

the fan motor has three torx screws and a connector. remove the fan motor and pull the door out. you may think it wont come out, but it will with a little wrangling...

honestly, the other makes are not immune to faults of their own. I got tired of paying twice for every ford I owned too.

I also been suffering with poor A/C air flow and after reading this thread I pulled the glove box and checked the vent at the top of the air box. I could reach in and move something around. I then pulled the blower and reached up and removed a door with broken hinge. It looked just like the one in the post above. Bottom line, I now have strong air flow with the blower on high. My truck is also a 06. Thanks now my girlfriend will be happy. I am not sure what the door does and really do not care as long as the A/C works.

It keeps the air recirculating so the air conditioner does not have to cool hot outside air and can re-cool already cooled air. A real requirement if you ever go anywhere hot and humid.

We have the heat and humid here in Virginia. I ordered the replacement part from dodge yesterday. I may just wait and see how much cold air comes in in winter driving then I may install the new parts or just cover the intake vent. I am thinking that with the door removed you would have both outside and inside air going to the blower intake and if the blower is not running you would have air from outside blowing thru the air intake into the cab. The truck is not my everday driver so I can live with the way it is for now.
