How does the door housing come out on an '06 ? Does it come out from the bottom as it should and how difficult is it to replace? Thanks
i too fell victim to this, seems to be one of the more common 06 problems... dealer fixed mine under warantee. if it the truck didn't have the cummins engine, i never would have bought it because of stuff like this.
that is a huge fork!>-8
What a joke. The fork is in the pic for size. You can see where the hinge broke off.
I also been suffering with poor A/C air flow and after reading this thread I pulled the glove box and checked the vent at the top of the air box. I could reach in and move something around. I then pulled the blower and reached up and removed a door with broken hinge. It looked just like the one in the post above. Bottom line, I now have strong air flow with the blower on high. My truck is also a 06. Thanks now my girlfriend will be happy. I am not sure what the door does and really do not care as long as the A/C works.
It keeps the air recirculating so the air conditioner does not have to cool hot outside air and can re-cool already cooled air. A real requirement if you ever go anywhere hot and humid.
I spent a week trying to figure out how to cheat and do this. I ended up removing the dash (pretty easy) and replacing the box.I may install the new parts or just cover the intake vent.
