I'm sorry to hear about your invasion, but it shouldn't be too bad to fix.
I replaced a window on my 94 years ago and had the same concerns. I bought the replacement glass and was pleased to find the metal attachment point already bonded to the glass. It was a simple door panel removal, get thru the plastic vapor barrier, undo a couple nuts or screws, and install the window. I firmed up the attachment just enough to test the up down operation of the window. When the alignment seemed right and all was well, I tighened 'em up.
Make sure to vaccuum out the broken glass inside the door. (rattles) Also seal up the plastic vapor barrier to prevent drafts.
Good luck with it.
