My truck suffered an attack (Bandido) that left the driver window shattered. I need some info on how difficult it is to replace. How do I remove the door panel w/o destroying something? Do I need any special tools?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. :(

Thank you.

Here's what my 03 manual says (likely similar to 04-up):

1. Remove window crank

2. Remove interior handle

3. Remove screws at the mirror flag and near the inside handle

4. Lift the trim panel up off the belt seal and attachment hooks and separate the panel from the door slightly

5. Disconnect the power window switch electrical connector

DO NOT TRY TO PULL THE TRIM PANEL OUT (perpendicular) FROM THE DOOR! IT'S ON HOOKS! Lift it, as it says in step 4.

There are also two screws on the bottom of the door panel.

Once you get the handle off and the screws out of the panel, lift straight up on the panel and it will come right off. Then remove the electrical connector at the window/door lock control. The panel should be clear at that point.

I'm sorry to hear about your invasion, but it shouldn't be too bad to fix.

I replaced a window on my 94 years ago and had the same concerns. I bought the replacement glass and was pleased to find the metal attachment point already bonded to the glass. It was a simple door panel removal, get thru the plastic vapor barrier, undo a couple nuts or screws, and install the window. I firmed up the attachment just enough to test the up down operation of the window. When the alignment seemed right and all was well, I tighened 'em up.

Make sure to vaccuum out the broken glass inside the door. (rattles) Also seal up the plastic vapor barrier to prevent drafts.

Good luck with it.

Thank You
