Competition twin cp3's

Competition '09 TNT Open House/Dyno Day (Maryland)

I am wanting to assemble a 1,000+ HP 4,000rpm motor for my truck and want it to be decently reliable at the same time.

I would like to stick with my current II towing twins so I am wanting to make it breathe as efficiently as possible.

As of right now these are my thoughts...

Block- My current 02 block, 5. 9 CR block (what years are best?), or a 6. 7 CR block? I am liking the 6. 7 idea but am not sure of using an unproven block, and crank:confused:

Fuel System- P7100, Monster VP, or HPCR? I would like to use a VP to be different and for simplicity(vs HPCR) But I would like to know how the Monster VP drives? I hear it lopes a little at idle?

Rods- I am hearing 1200hp is no problem with enough n2o. Stock balanced? Anyone making billet rods? Shot peened and balanced stock? other options?

Pistons- Stock coated? Mahle steel? Other options?

Girdle kit, 14mm main studs (by?), ARP rod bolts, 14mm head studs (by?), Coated stock main and rod bearings, Fluid dampener.

What else am I missing? I am still very undecided about what to do with the head.

Help me out guys, I have never put a whole lot of thought into building one of these. What would yall do? I am wanting to keep the cost under $15,000

But I will spend what it takes to make it right.

VP???!!!

You WANT to use the VP-44 injection pump ON PURPOSE??

C'mere sos I can get you in a headlock... . #@$%!

Cmon cut me some slack! I like the control of electronic injection.

And it is very different. I can see myself going with a P pump later on but with the numbers the monster VP is doing I figure ill give it a shot. Keep in mind this truck is daily driven when its running.

I guess I am the only one on TDR that wants to build a tough unique high power motor:rolleyes:

Uhh, no.

You're just the only one who wants to do it bass ackwards. There are a lot of guys on here who have done what you are dreaming about, only they were concerned about the amount of fuel they wanted to deliver to the combustion chamber.

You said decently reliable and VP-44 in the same sentence, WITH a straight face. Let those things die already.

You want electronic control AND reliability? Use dual 85% CP 3s.

I'm definately not the most qualified to answer this one, as I'm only at 600 hp or so, but I'll throw in my thoughts...

If you're looking for 1000 hp that can be daily driven in a reasonable manner, you're going to have to go with a 3rd gen common rail engine. This will allow you to start with an engine that's already girdled as well.

A Helix 2 and sportsman springs, fluidampr with pin kit, intake, ARPs new high torque head studs, 5" exhaust will be a start. For electronics, I'd recomend Smarty TNT-R with PoD upgrade, TST, and a pressure box like MP-8. If you're going with '03 - 04. 5, probably some Flux 6s or so. If '04. 5+, then prob Flux 5. 5 injectors.

Your II towing twins are not going to cool 1000 hp. A 66 over 480 combo would be a start, but I'd call Nathan at MPI and get his recommendations. Then spray some water and get an intercooler.

With the PoD upgrade, you'll be able to keep the truck much more driveable...

If you're serious about this, you need to talk to Lloyd (Imills), and Tim at TREDiesels.

Keep us updated!

Were you serious about this, or was this a joke?

Full on joke... yep... I am wanting to do something few if any have done (build a 1000hp vp'd 6. 7) and except for a couple of replies I get nothing but crap. When I learned to build my own auto trans I didnt turn to this site for this very reason. A very patient man taught me over the phone along with an ATSG manual.

I guess I just need to keep to myself with my joke of a project:)

Eventually I am going to be looking to do the same but am only looking for 700-800 hp and keep it usable as a daily driving towing rig yet but that could change. Just waiting for more results from the new vps coming out also.

I see very little vp issues in the last couple years from the rebuilds and hpvps ect. so the nay sayers need to get up to date with things, we are not dealing with old stockers anymore. :p

I hope you aren't calling my post crap  The reason I asked if it was a joke, is because from your signature, it looks like you have a LOT of experience with these trucks... but then you say you're wanting to use a set of towing twins to cool 1000 hp as a daily driver? That doesn't make sense at all.

I'm all for people trying new things, but sometimes over the 'net it's hard to know how to take someone.

I guess if you're on the "other" sites, you already know Marco's released an alpha program for the 6. 7s... and you probably know everything about the guys making over 800 hp on these trucks as well, although that's not going to work with your VP-44.

I'm here to help if I can...
