Its time for bigger turbo & injectors on '06

Amsoil has brought out a new line of air filters using Donaldson Endurance technology to directly compete with K&N, Green, and others. I've figured out which Amsoil EAAU part numbers may work with our trucks, and I'm going to go to Amsoil corporate headquarters today to see these filters in person. I will post later on what I have found, and possibly pictures. Stay tuned!

Well IMO I just don't like them. I don't like the idea of the fine line between under and over oiled or the idea of the filter keeping dust attached to the oil vs falling off into the box. You really need 2 with one ready to go unless you have nothing to do while waiting for it to dry after cleaning.

FWIW I have used them and serviced many for other people over the years and currently have no plans to try another.

Besides an oiled filter doesn't belong in this thread.

OK guys, I think we have a winner here. I spent some time with the fine folks over at Amsoil corporate headquarters in Superior, WI and I think we really have something here. Amsoil deals and works very closely with Donaldson. Amsoil is offering an all new OIL-FREE, reusable air filter exclusively using the Donaldson Endurance Nanofiber technology. Spending some time sorting through the specs of what Ea Air Filters Amsoil is offering, I think I have a winner here. What I have here is the EaAU4090 Nanofiber air filter. It's flange opening is exactly 4. 00 inches, the same as our factory air hoses. Using a PVC 4" to 4" connector, we can clamp this filter and our factory hoses together and hook this up. I will be installing this 4090 in my truck tonight, but for now, I have photos. The filter's flange is a heavy rubber that will make a real nice seal, not hard plastic like the Fleetguard AH19037 that I am currently running. The filter is a round, tapered cone shape with an additional inverted cone with extra filter media on the tip. The filter is about 10. 5 inches high overall with a actual filter media height of 9. 0 inches and a top outside diameter of 5. 0 inches and a base outside diameter of 6. 0 inches. It has a nice looking chrome tip with the Amsoil logo laser etched in it. No oil, and Donaldson provides instructions on the box for cleaning the filter with compressed air for reuse. I feel pretty excited about this filter, and I hope you guys will be just as pleased. For those readers who may be planning on attending the mntdr (www.mntdr.org) meet this saturday in Minnesota, I will be bringing an extra filter and PVC link setup to try on someone elses truck.

OK, enough talking, how about some pictures?!?

BRAVO!! BRAVISSIMO!!

That's looks like a winner for sure.

I'm no Amsoil kool-aid drinker (;) ) but BRAVO TO AMSOIL!

It speaks well of Amsoil that they are forward-thinking enough to realize the superiority of the Donaldson nanofiber media.

The question is:

Will this fit inside a Scotty intake ??

PAGING SCOTTY-- SCOTTY YOU HAVE A CALL ON LINE 2!!

:D

Yeeeehaawww! THAT is exciting! Oo. GOOD WORK, Duluth Diesel! Thanks for checking this out. I found the filter on Amsoil's website, but I couldn't find any details on flow. So, do you have any more data on CFM, etc? Also, is the filter media water resistant? Thanks again!

Don't know about flow (but based on what I've heard about Donaldson Endurance media, it should be better than the paper BHAF), and I don't know about moisture resistance. Dang nice looking filter, and I think it is what we've been searching for this whole time. I'm going to run it on my truck tonight and for quite a while, and I will post updates. Also, I'm going to find a well-bombed volunteer tomorrow at our local MNTDR meet and have them try it and see if a egts are better or worse. Not bad for a day's work at Amsoil, eh?

Oo. Oo. Oo.

Does it come in red? That blue is just going to clash with the color scheme on my truck... :-laf

Blue only, man. Donaldson Endurance Nanofiber media is only blue. I like it!

I'll be on the road until tonight. I'm going to meet up with the mntdr crew tonight and hang out. I'll try to jump back on here and check PMs and such tonight. I'm glad you guys are as pumped about this as I am. I guess this is the advantage of being an Amsoil dealer and TDR nut based in Amsoil's hometown.

Is there an 18 inch version with a 5" outlet?

or one that is similar in size to the current bhaf standard of 10. 5"x10. 5"??? 4" or 5" outlet would work [can always make transission piece]

That would be awesome in that size, hard to believe with the size of a BHAF though. I wonder if outerwear's has anything to fit this filter?

There is a version with a 4. 5 inch outlet, but it has a smaller filter media area, so I choose the 4 inch outlet one for now. I'll probably pick up the 4. 5 inch one and try it out too. Due to the flow qualities of the nanofiber technology, a size as large as the common BHAF isn't necessary. This filter is designed to compete directly with the Green and AFE type filters. I have one of these Amsoil filters out on a test drive on Billy Diesel's truck right now as I type. We'll see what he thinks.
