I ordered my truck from Fusz Dodge, not realizing Rams are built in St Louis.

What are the chances I'll get a good old American-made truck rather than a Mexico-made truck, given that St Louis is a hell of a lot closer to Fusz than Mexico?

I placed my order 2-3 weeks ago, and already have a VIN.

Mike... Both my 2001 and my 2005 were built (assembled) in Mexico. They have both been good trucks and the fit and finish was good. I don't think there is any advantage to a "St. Louis" truck and I don't thing too many of the 2500 or 3500 are assembled there... ;)

Find some pictures of DC's Saltillo Plant... absolutely state-of-the-art. Of course if the jobs are the issue... you won't get any argument from me.

Mike, I just picked my truck up last weekend from Lou Fusz and it says right on the sticker, Assembled in Saltillo, Mexico. It seems to be a great truck, 1439 miles so far. Runs so smooth it is unreal. I can't imagine a better truck being made today. Power is all over the place, fuel mileage is incredible by my standards. I was addicted to power, but this truck seems to have plenty to go around, without adding more. I do plan on leveling the truck and putting air bags in the back and maybe a nice tool box, but as far as power and mileage, I am going to run it. Scotty

My '06 2500 was built in St. Louis. No real problems so far but fit/finish left a bit to be desired. Satelite antenna was loose as a goose, could see under it. But I noticed it very soon after delivery so no water came in. Also hood was way out of aliginment, had to pull it way off to the side to shut it. Dealer did the best they could, but still notice that the gaps from the rear of the hood to the front are not the same. Otherwise all is great.

Mybe it's because the St. Louis plant is out of practice since the last RAM was built here in what, 1993? I tell ya, the job situation is so bad for the good ole union, backbone-of-the-middle class jobs that made America unique, we should all think twice about Mexican, Chinese, or any other foregin products from countries harboring lots of anti-American sentiment. My 05 3500 was made in Saltillo, and is a good rig thus far, but at least the engine says made in USA!! It is AMERICAN ENGINEERING in the truck anyway, so we get to keep some of the money over here. Don't worry, the big money made by DC is probably going into huge bonus checks for CEOs ala ENRON style. Are Ford and GM still in trouble? I haven't kept up with it. I do know this, truck for truck, the Ford, minus the engine, is a very nicely built ride with great materials and fit and finish. I almost bought an 05 f350, but love that CTD! If FORD had put the cummins in there, I'd be driving a FOrd now, though the RAM is a beautiful truck. But anyway, let's be real. THere has to be a point when we actually boycott CHinese and Mexican made goods, especially after the march the Mexicans had in Atlanta a few weeeks ago and their profound sense of entitlement to illegal entry into America. Am I knocking mexican built Rams? NO! But we don't need to feed the enemy unnecessarily, though it's really the admininstration's fault we have em here in the first place. It's all about a cute move to demoralize us and make us think we are no better than a MExican international criminal who won't revolt and mold his own country into something great so that we are okay with crappy jobs, no jobs, a steadily falling dollar, rising interest rates, falling real incomes (mine has by 66 percent since 1985), etc. It also (allowing illegals to be here in Millions) allows a simple supply and demand economics situation. Flood our economy with 11 plus million illegals with no respect for our laws, customs, manners, or traditions, and VIOLA! the price of labor falls! More people=more labor supply=lower REAL incomes(with a constant demand for labor). Here in Panama City, illegals work construction for $10-13. 50 an hour tax free. My wife is about fifth gen AMerican with 5 years experience in medical records/clerical and makes a TAXED 9. 75 an hour. After one year she got a 25 cent an hour raise!!!

My 97 was built in St. Louis. I know that most if not all Reg. Cabs where made at St. Louis up until then.

My Regular Cab Ram was built in Warren, MI, USA.

It would be a better truck if somebody made it in this country with wages and taxes staying in this country.

... Now let me get off this board and get down to WalMart. They got some great deals... . :D :D

My previous '92 and my current '03 were both built in Mexico. I've had no major build quality problems with either truck, and am actually quite impressed with the fit and finish.

During the course of my job I have had to work with Mexican crews (mostly legal, but I'm sure some weren't), and their work ethic is strong. I've also done work inside of some American auto assembly plants, and have been less than impressed with some of their staff.

That being said, I'm fully in favor of locking down the border and no amnesty for those illegals already here. What I'd really like to see is more decent jobs being created in Mexico (like at the Saltillo Ram plant). This will help to discourage them from jumping that fence. If the UAW can't compete, then they need to come back to reality with their expectations for wages and benefits.

I live minutes from the St. Louis plant. Production of Rams here has been ongoing and non-stop for many years, so I'm not sure what you meant by that. The CTD's were moved to Mexico when the 3rd gen trucks came out, but other Ram's continued to be built here. For 2006 CTD production has resumed in St. Louis. Mega Cabs are all made in Mexico.

Your lucky that your truck is being built in Mexico. My previous 95 and my new 05 were both built in Mexico. I think that the fit and finish and the paint are as good as a Toyota or Honda built anything. St Louis still has a long way to go to equal that level of quality. In regards to our Mexican neighbors, I strongly agree with everyone else. I would rather see Mexican stay in Mexico building our trucks than crossing our borders illegally.

Thanks, Tomeygun. I'm looking forward to getting the truck.

Prefer USA-made, but perhaps will be impressed by the Mexico-made. Sounds like they are more practiced in the new big Rams than the folks in St. Louis.

Was honestly hoping to save a little time on shipping... I'm looking forward to getting back into a truck after selling my '91 F-350 last weekend!!

Heheheh. I bought this truck as my last new truck for 10 years. It ain't no Laramie, but it has a few options that'll make life easier for my wife and I.

Oo.

I came through StLouis yesterday and noticed the assembly plant on 44 (or was it 55?) anyways... I think the truck and van out front are ugly. You'd figure they could have a better lookin american flag as paint.
