Thanks, TDR Staff
BTW I have lots of . 338 bullets, Hornady, Nosler mostly, that I will never use; also . 338 win brass. . . I am mostly using 7mm now since my eye doc about 20 yr ago said recoil probably wouldnt hurt my retinas unless I shot something big like a . 378 Wby. Oops, I was shooting a . 338-378 and a . 338 mag. . . I only have one . 338 left, NIB . 338 Win 70 limited production super grade from 1990. Maybe I should stay away from my model 600 . 350 mag too, grrr.

Bah!! What do doctors know!?!? They only "practice" medicine... . :D

Big,:--):--) so it was you that fired that cannern?! That explains why our trees blew over and ground shook up in Canada!

That's quite the shock wave that came from that thing! You can pretty much take your pick of elk, deer or whatever somewhere outside of ground zero! :-laf

Actually I have to watch out for being TO CLOSE to the animal, if its 300 yards or closer its pretty ugly what that 225gr varmint bullet does to an animals off side, I try to shoot starting at 500 or 600 yards, ive been told that, at that flight time it has enough time to fully stabilize the bullet????? I don't know about all that kind of stuff. I go with what works the way I like, In hunt camp there are arguments that make the ones of TDR look like reading a Disney Children's Book. I stay out of those because most of the guys WONT SHOOT what almost all of our family does, so why argue without knowledge it makes no since. But when they see a shot by chance, what's the saying SEEING IS BELIEVING !!!!! The 338/378 is not a caliber for everyone, but we should use the biggest thing a person can use, to be fair to the game. BTJMO

In all Fairness to BIG!

He definitely knows what he is doing!

I'm just a little jealous, I reckon!

Just trying to squeeze in some range time is an accomplishment for me!

Have Fun, Brother BIG!

Never Patient, I get so wound up that sleep is two days away, for me now. Up at 3 am (nothing new) get gang out and at the rail, munching on some grain to calm and give energy for the day ahead. Back to the house to give the head cook and her sister a hug and kiss, others smell the bacon, sausage, home fries, biscuits, eggs, an the cowboy coffee that Starbucks cant come close to. All are brought to the table with a shine on their face and in their eye with antisapation of the miles ahead. Then it out to the rail everyone is talking to their ride for the next week hoping that they like each other. Panniers go up ropes soaked with water and rosin to make them as sticky as flypaper. Spray excess water when pulled tight and the sound of them slapping the side of the pannier. Everything is a go help the folks that need a hand up into the saddle any last minute adjustments, and its time to roll, First 4 miles nice and level to get the gangs legs warm, packsaddles situated on their backs, grunts, farts, snorts, head shakes, slobbering just like a football team getting ready for the game. Then its time for a swim, rivers been running high so it adds another mile to a wide flat span of the river bank. Lift your boots if not wet soggy boots the rest of the day, mules are cautious about the crossing rock are slick in this time of year the weather has warmed and algae on them make for unsure footing once across the trail switchbacks 12 times and gains a tuff 1400 feet in elevation now the smell of wet leather from the lathered coats of the animals, struggling to get their load up the side of a cliff, don't look down if you are Leary of heights its a fer piece to the bottom, then a big left hand sweeper of a switchback and now look the ground has came back to make your feeling of excitement of what could have happened disappear. Thru the pass at 6,250 ft and on a high mountain valley were its a fine place to let the animals get a well deserved drink and let the wrinkles out of the seat of you britches straighten out.

Its hunting time now, load up, chamber clear don't need any accidents on my string. The sound of rifle stock and leather is something that I anticipate from the first step of the mules. Then up in the butt bucket again, always on watch for a nice buck mostly deer at this point but fine ones. Pass 3 giant slides where the winters snow has cleared the land of anything a quick stop to glass these the new fresh grass is a prime draw for anything that eats it. Bear Grass is now blooming so an always vigilant look out is needed. On to another set of 2 long switchbacks, the mules are eager they know that its not far now and want to get the 200lbs off their backs and be set loose in a big open meadow of sweet mountain grass to eat and roll. Camp is in sight now, on a little bench above the valley so a stockman can watch is charge, and still be with folks. Camp is set up and its time for a light lunch to fill that empty spot that has opened in your belly, after lunch time to get things ready for the night of singing around the fire after a great dinner of steak, potato's, salad, vegetables, and a BIGNASTY to wash it all down Ya!!!!!!!!!! DONT GET NO BETTER THAN THAT. A few songs and its time to get some sleep for the day ahead, sleep comes fast with clean cool air and the sound of a mountain stream near buy. The sound of a cow bell rings and puts you to sleep as the mules are moving to get comfortable them selves they know what's up in the AM. Everybody in tents tent stoves adding some much needed heat cause its cool at this altitude and will be nice when you get out of the bag in the AM. Wrangler makes a walk around of his charge thanks the animals for a good days work and hits the bedroll him self, but not to sleep first night out in someone else's house is always a challenge to keep ones wits about him self, with every little noise it raises the hair on his neck. He's thinking of the needs of the folks in his charge and the thoughts of who will be the lucky one in the morning. Maybe just a few winks if he's lucky but them DAMN CHIPMUNKS keep scurrying around to make that hair raise again.

Take Care Everyone

A lifestyle most in America will never get to experience, unfortunately. More unfortunate is that so many don't know it exists or want to experience it. You can find them by how they vote.

Re-heated cowboy coffey over a campfire while hunting in the wild is better than anything at Starbucks or other trendy urban stores.

Joe: never liked Starbucks anyways. Most times I use Tim hortons. But I'm willin to try different coffees

Ahhh, but the trick is keeping the flavor! Grind the beans fresh. Yes there are hand cranked coffee grinders. I have one, it is over 100 years old:-laf!

That and how long you boil the coffee really makes a difference. One other thing I like to do is drop egg shells (from breakfast) into the coffee. This cuts some of the acid and gives the coffee a creamy look. It tastes like a "Cowboy Cappachino":--)!

Star-Smucks.

Never cared for coffee, myself. Couldn't stand the capital murder charges... . Caffeine makes me hyper... which makes other people nervous... . One slip up, and if they accidentally run when they shouldn't, it triggers my trip and bite instinct... .

And how they speak... . with a forked tongue!! It's one thing for them to sit there and tell the world how to live, but another when it begins to affect them!!! I see them far too often, usually Commiefornians transplanted to the DFW area... .

There is a local coffee company for those who want New Mexican coffee; mostly flavors added to regular stuff I suppose. My wife gets it sometimes. As a marrid man I have learned to drink whatever is in the pot, lol.

Mr. Donnelly, New Mexico Pinion?
Thats what we buy. Roasted beans by the case!
I like their New Mexico Favorites, Adobe Morning Blend! Good stuff!
Beats the socks off "Star Pukes" any time =)

Hhhuntitall: with today's technology, we can install a caffeine monitor on your guns. If the levels in your system are too high, it won't fire and no one will be nervous around you. ;)

Joe: sounds like your wife's choice of coffee is better than others from franchises if you chose to drink hers.

Greg: sounds like both you and joe like New Mexico coffee.

I've only had either Tim hortons or maxwell house. I'll check some stores, not sure if there will be any New Mexico in Canada.

SRay,
Try Costco! Any good whole bean coffee will do! I prefer dark roasted.
Thats where I got introduced to this coffee!
