we have also gone without significant rain for a few weeks.

only thing to do is go hide in the air conditioning.

Hmm when I check Weather.com it shows low 90s and less than 40% humidity for max of high 90s heat index for Cleveland.

ok i lied!!!

but it FEELS like 80% humidity!!!

here is my current accuweather forecast.

it is 54% RH - increasing to 74% by 7 pm

needless to say, i would rather be in washington state

Yeah, it's been really nice here this year. Yesterday was only 90 but around 15% humidity I would guess, so heat index mid-upper 80s :)

It has been the coolest summer here I've seen in a LONG time. The jet stream has been running low and keeping the heat to the south so lizzyhermit's nice 'n toasty :p

We haven't even seen a single 100 degree day yet! Typically we see at least 10 days over 100, hotter summers it's closer to 30.

When I lived in AZ, it was not uncommon for humidity levels to be in the single digits. In fact, many homes use "swamp coolers" for AC relief. As the hunidity is so low, they do a good job. As the "monsoon" season approaches, you have to switch to the heat pump to fight the rising humidity.

I miss that 100 continuous days of 100 degree weather. Most people cringe when they hear that, but with the low humidity, it really isn't that bad. I used to off-road race and trained daily in that heat. Many race days saw temps over 120 degrees. That's hot! I would lose 10+ lbs during the course of a 100 mile race and not have a drop of sweat on me. It's that dry.

well, the "lizzy" part of my nickname comes from my love of the sunshine so I love it this time of year. even when we did 122 degrees awhile back my boys and I played basketball in the drive way after work.

right now it's 10:42 am, 101 degrees and 9% humitdty. another record is being projected for today but there are clouds forming... ... ... ... ..... our summer monsoon usually begins 7 July and the latest is 24 July so we're close to some moisture... ... .

Man when it's 110 you won't catch me outside playing basketball, let alone 122

Here is a heat index chart http://www.nsis.org/weather/heatindex.html

The worst heat I ever felt was here in the Tri-Cities 3 years ago. We had a storm come through and drop an inch of rain late July, then the next day it hit 109 degrees. The following day the paper reported our humidity was 37% when the temp peaked for the day. Try punching in 109 degrees and 37% into this Heat Index Calculator and see what you get

I worked in Phoenix, Mesa and Tucson area for three years building power lines. Anyone that tells you it's a DRY heat and it's not that bad is a SICK individual. LOL

Try being on a pole 12 hours a day every day in 120 degree weather.

Just broke 2 weeks straight of 100+ here in El Paso a couple of days ago. No big deal though, far cry from 130+ I saw in Iraq where it is was so dry your nose would start bleeding for no reason. Never thought camo netting would cast much of a shadow but it will make do when there is nothing else around :-laf

130 degrees is not a valid reason? Or the dehydration, dust dying you out and just the phsical stress?

What reason are you thinking? :-laf

I know about the nose bleeds. I used to get them on a rare occasion after a race if I did not get enough fluids in me. Didn't want to do it too quick, but that would happen just due to being totally dried out.
