There is a nut (looks more like a cap when i took it off) on the front of the pump and i was told there is a part that can be put in there or replaced and by doing this can gain some power.

What is it?? and what is the stock purpose of the nut/cap??

You can change that rack end cap to a deeper cap off of a mack application. Some people just add 1 to 2 more copper shims to space it away from the case. What the cap does is limits the total amount of rack travel that available. I think the stamped # is 2095 on the face of the cap.

Now i know there is a provision in the back of the timing cover to get it out. but is it really enough it looks small.

the 2095 is on the stock cap???

is there a part # from mack??

Thanks,

Michael

i made a washer to go on my plug and removed it after reading the above link from signal73. i did gain a little power on top end fueling but not worth risking the problems associated with this mod.

The Bosch plug number is 1 413 462 095-000

You will gain 2 mm's of rack travel. Figured this mod out years ago, what's funny is the pump shop didn't know about it. They later said it was a gain of 70 cc's on a 13mm pump.

Read through some of Signal73's link and saw some remarks about not making a difference on a 180 pump like mine. You guys opinion?

thanks,

david

Sometimes I'd like to have people get all the can out of there pump and then drop it off with me and leave.

Ask Bobcat if he likes it on his pump.

Here is a video of my truck with the MACK plug installed. .

Believe me, it WORKS VERY WELL on a 180 pump with the proper AFC modifications done.

24 Degrees timing, AFC slid all the way forward, 0 plate slid all the way forward, plus the sig.

I have TOO MUCH fuel in that video, I slid the AFC back and gained power.

I had my timing reset when I did the modification and requested they install the plug. The place that did it is a pretty large injection shop and they insisted that the rack did not contact the plug.

I told them just to do it, and they were very surprised to see the wear marks on the stock plug. . It had definately been hitting!

That is a different number than the one Jim provided (1 413 462 095-000). Are you sure that is the correct number? The reason I ask is when I gave the pump shop the previous number posted in the thread they gave me a plug that was about 1. 5" long. Obviously not the correct one. I was thinking the pump shop had the wrong part inventoried for the part number.

Thanks.

The number Jim listed is the right one. Its noticeably deeper. If anyone wants one, let me know, and i can get them.

Exactly how much deeper are the holes on these Mack plugs from OEM?

(For example: What's keeping people from hogging one out on their own?)

Beers,

Matt

I should have measured the difference, but didn't have a caliper handy. It was noticeable looking at the two plugs side by side. Unfortunately that all i know at this point.
