Anybody need a good looking VW diesel

Buying the new military diesel motorcycle

I cant get that deisel KLR 650 out of my head. Didnt people used to sell humvees before they were available to the public. How did this work? How can I get one of these bikes? How do army surplus stores get stuff from the govt and what kinds of stuff can they get any info on this will be appreciated. I wonder if Kawaski will ever list the deisel engine as a part that can be bought

I would do almost anything to get a diesel bike.

Royal Enfield used to make a few diesel models - I have read that they discontinued them due to emissions.

The diesel Enfields were VERY slow, however.

The folks in India describe the Enfields as "Putt-Putty" - this helps one understand the engine clatter and the performance. I have heard that they are very torquey..... and are used as taxis in a few places 'round the world.

I am trying my third diff number to reach hayes diversified, builder of the diesel KLR 650 and I will tell them I have 2 sold. Me and You. They said in one argument that they were concentrating on the military but would sell as Fleets. wonder how many in a fleet

I finally got a god number on Hayes diversified its 760 947 3140 and the lady was real nice and said they get so many calls about the bike and they DO plan to sell it to the public but it will be at least a year or two but i am faxing my name in to be put on the list. Man I wish I was 18 and I would join the Marines just to get to drive a duiesel bike

the fax number for Hayes diversified is 760 947 3142. Fax them your name and adress and tell'em your interested in a diesel motorcycle that gets over 100 MPG

Here at Hill AFB in UT, they closed the DRMO to the general public and went to the auction style sales. That was reasonable but then they were getting picky about emptying the shelves so they palletized stuff. You bid on the whole pallet, even if you only wanted the one item on the pallet.

Still you could get good deals... then they went bigtime... you have to bid on entire rows of pallets that take up a 48 ft trailer. So basically the little guy got pushed right out of the way and the big companys can come buy stuff cheap and cart it all off. If you bid on the pallets you have to take it all no exceptions. I quit going at all and basically wrote the idea of buying surplus off. There is a company here in Ogden that deals in army surplus vehicles... like big 2 1/2 tons and what not.

They did the same thing here by me. Lakehurst NAWC.

I'd be willing to bet its government wide, but i'm not sure. Dealing with the govn't is a real pain... like that's news to anyone though.

GSA

Try gsaauctions.gov. They have excess government equipment and surplus. Not sure if it is totally civilian, they might have some military. Sometimes the other branches of the government will pick up military equipment from a DRMO , not need it and sell it thru GSA. Worth a try anyway.

I sent 'em an email... . I hope they get back to me.

110mpg is pretty sweet!

Top speed in excess of 80mph is good enough for me.

0-60 is a bit slow @ ~10sec..... nothing a little NOS won't help. :-laf

...I already got an email reply.

Here's what he had to say:

"Matt:

The M1030M1 is only available to military customers at the present. We hope to announce plans for a commercial version later this year.

Thanks for you interest in our new motorcycle

For you guys that can go to the DRMO sales, if you belong to a local government, a recognized non-profit org, a state organization like a volunteer rescue or fire department and such stuff like that, you can get registered as such and then you can go into DRMO and pick and choose what you want before it goes to action and only pay a flat fee for the items. Organizations like this get first choice before auction. At least that is how it works up here and I would imagine that all DRMO's operate the same way. Our volunteer rescue unit does it from time to time.
