5er trailer angle- what's better

Overnight Stops Along I95

Hey guy's wondering if you could help me out,I'm looking at TT and remember seeing a couple sites where you could buy a travel trailer without having to go through a dealer. I was wondering if anyone could remember the webite address.

I am starting to get serious about looking at travel trailers, and I went to traderonline.com's RV section and typed in the few brands I was looking at. Lots of brokers came up for some of the hits.

Good luck,

I just ordered mine through www.RVdirect.com and am nothing but happy with the deal so far.

they emailed me the option sheet with pricing. we sat at the dinner table, optioned it out and called back and ordered the thing at 10pm at night. put down the deposit online and that was it.

they are open until 1am EST. 6 days a week. we shopped about four dealers in the area and they werent even close in price. even with the RV show pricing they were all quoting me.

I was just told today it was ordered friday and 5-6 weeks for our delivery.

Ken is our salesman, tell him Mr. Thorp said hi if you talk to him. He and Eric are both the best.

Check back with us after delivery and then again after each service trip to a dealer to get the little things squared away. It will be great to get some objective first hand feed back from someone else that a person on RV.net regarding rvdirect. SNOKING

Don't forget that some dealers are worth their money.

When I bought our 5er, the dealer and I worked with the factory on the price to the dealer, then the dealer and I discussed his commission.

It worked out satisfactorily.

Then, when a couple of small things came up, they were attended to quickly.

Of course, it didn't hurt that we'd been volunteers for this dealership at the local RV show in the winter and had bought enough "stuff" from this dealer to become known to him/them.

I believe it would depend on how much you plan to use an RV whether you want a dealer involved. We use our 5 th wheel about 5-6 months of the year and put some serious miles on them. In the past I have needed some work performed on mine and it was all handled through the dealer by the factory at no cost. Currently I have a top-of-the line fifth wheel that had a roof material flaw and the factor is covering all costs of repair, with no hassles, although the unit is out of warranty. I found Hart City, Elkhart, IN to be an excellent dealer when I purchased my first fifth wheel. Excellent price and service.

Pulling with 2005 Ram 3500 HO all options available. Pac Brake and now working on a few performance goodies.

Have fun,

Travel Trailer

If you have the time take a few days off and go through all the factories located in Middlebury, Indiana. It will show you what you might want . And you will see the construction of the trailers. We drove up from Texas and

were well satisfied. My advice don't get anything longer than a 30 ft.

When we decided what we wanted we walked across the street to a dealer who was selling the brand of trailer we needed. We saved on transportation

of trailer to a dealer in Texas. Hope you have as much fun as we do in our trailer. We purchased our trailer in 2001.

My opinion is that with the electronic age, dealers NEED to evolve and that is not evident around this part of the country. I spoke with several large dealers in my area at the RV show and actually visited several to hone in on what we wanted. They all talked a good game but fell short on delivery dates and more importantly PRICE. At the RV show, they were quoting me costs of nearly 10K over the Internet deal I got and 12-14 week delivery intervals.

Skip forward a few weeks: I have the trailer ordered and started shopping for a hitch. Again, I purchased a hitch online out of Texas with shipping included for nearly $400 less than my local "factory direct Reese dealer" did.

He was profiting over $100 alone on the truck hitch. NO, install either.

I haven’t actually used my warranty, but from the information provided from both the manufacturer and the dealer I can go to one of over 3000 dealers in the US for warranty related service with just an 800# phone call to the manufacturer to arrange that.

I truly try to support my local economy but when we are talking 10's of thousands, that is where I call it off

I would suggest you drop by www.irv2.com and ask the folks there about the RVs you are interested in, and purchasing options. Irv2 is a forum very much like this one, but focused on all things RV. There's someone there who can answer just about any question you can come up with. We got lots of help there when we first started out with our 5th wheel.
